Hey ya'll. I'm 4 weeks out and I am wanting to ask a few questions for ya'll for comparison: 1) How much did you lose in the first month? AND 2) How many weeks after surgery did your doc make you go before starting on solid foods? Thanks for the responses in advance Kristi

Kristy at two weeks out i had lost 30 lbs and 3 weeks 31 lbs and now at 12 weeks i'm down 56 lbs. my dr is pleased with the slow weight loss, says its better on my body. i told her anything was better on my body and i had problems eating after 4 weeks. i stayed on semi soft till 10 weeks out. my diet was hard boiled eggs, imitation crab legs, macironi salad (at walmart) and soup. now after 12 weeks i'm slowly adding real food. had some baked chicken the other nite a tiny piece about the size of a 50 cent piece. and my daughter made a meatloaf and i ate a small bite of it. you will find that when you add real food, you fill up real fast. welcome to the losing side its wonderful SUSAN

hey Kristi I don't remember exactly how much it was, but I wanna say around 20 pounds first month. Now I'm 3 ½ months post op and I lost 51 lbs. You will go through stages where you lose nothing for a week, two weeks or even three. Don't get discouraged. It's normal. I got to eat mushy pureed stuff at 3 weeks, but I was allowed to eat other food as long as I chewed , chewed, chewed. I didn't do pureed. Yuck. Chewing 20 times per bite did just fine. Now that I'm in the trial and error phase, I have not found anything that I can't tolerate except sugar. I can do chicken and beef, haven't done pork yet but Ham and Turkey < deli sliced > works fine. Veggies work well for me too, Just remember CHEW till you have it to a paste consistency and you'll be fine. oh.. and only do one new food at a time. Take care, and good luck Andrea
