Update on Kitsy
Hey ya'll
I talked to Kitsy tonight and she sounded much better. She said it has been very hard for her and about a week ago she didn't think she could handle it, but it's amazing what one decides they are able to handle when you have to. The docs have told her that she is doing amazingly well...she is a very strong woman for sure.
She is at UMC Rehab center now and has been there for about a week. She said she will be there for at least another week. She said it wouldn't be so bad if she would have broken either her neck OR her hip...but with both to contend with, it's rough. They have put a steel rod and plate in her hip and she has a halo on that goes from below her naval to above her head. Even when she sleeps she has to keep the halo balanced. She said that they told her she will have to wear the halo for about 3 months. They have told her that she might get to go back to work at the end of March if she works really hard. They are making her do 3 hours of Rehab a day and she said that she is working really hard to do everything that they ask of her plus a little more b/c she wants so badly to get home to her kids and her husband.
I can't imagine how hard of a time she is having and she definitely needs all of our prayers!
Hey Kristi,
How are you ? fine,I hope. Thanks for the update on Kitsy,It will be a long and hard road for her but, thank God she will still be able to get her life back after rehabilitation.I know the fact that she is alive regardless of what physical shape she is in, is a very great comfort to her family, but for the Grace of God things could have been so different.I pray that her rehabilitation time goes by fast for her. Please post as you hear how she is doing .................Sherry...
Hey Juanine ,
here is a copy and paste of Kristi Ehteridge's dated 9/28/04 concerning Kitsy:
Hey ya'll
Some of you should know Katherine "Kitsy" Campbell. She posts on here and the main board from time to time. Mrs. Arlies will know her from the Yahoo Group. This is an email I received from Kitsy's husband. He wanted me to share it with the group. She definitely needs all of our prayers at this time in her life. Im going to try and go see her this weekend.
Kristy,
My name is James Rife. I am Kitsy's husband. Kitsy asked me to send this email to you.
On Wednesday night, Kitsy and I had a terrible car accident. Kitsy sufferred a broken neck, broken hip, several broken ribs, as well as a large laceration to her scalp. She had surgery on her hip on Thursday night and was in intensive care until Saturday. She was placed in a halo and vest, which she will have to wear for three months in order for her neck to heal.
On Saturday she was moved into a regular room and is awake and talking. She is expected to make a full recovery, although it will take 2-3 months or longer.
She is in the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson on Woodrow Wilson Blvd. The phone number in her room is 601-984-4256. Also, she has a cell phone in her room and the number is 601-529-0583.
She wanted me to ask you to let the members of her group know as she would be unable to attend any meetings for a while.
Thank you in advance for doing this for her.
James Rife
