Who can tell me about obesity and disability in the State of Mississippi? What can you tell me? I received today, a letter stating I was being given an appeal date for disability that I requested in Feb. 2002. Is it worth pursuing? Let me hear from you!!! Smoochies & Hugs Arlies

Yes it is worth pursuing. Several years ago you could disability if you were mordibly obese, then they stopped giving disability due to being obese. With the new guidelines they are setting up you will again be able to get disability due to being mordibly obese again. It sounds like they have already started it considering the letter you received.

most definately. it also used to be that people who were obese, had sleep apena, congestive heart failure and emotional problems were basically give disability. i have all of that plus more and thery turned me down cold. i appealed in may 2004 and my lawyer says it will be over a year before they consider my case. if you have an appeal date, go for it. susan

I did not notice in your post that you were the one in 2002 *****quested the hearing. I got my disability at a hearing due to not being able to walk very far, can not sit long or stand long. Do you have a lawyer who is representing you at this hearing?
