My first consult.
I had my appointment yesterday. It was great. He gave me alot of information to think about. I have another appointment on the 7th of Sept. I can't wait. I have to have someone look into my stomach and have a filter placed in one of my veins. He said I would barely notice its there.(I just stopped smoking a month ago when I found out I had an appointment so that's the need for the filter) He said everything looked fine. I am sooooo excited to know that is a possibilaty that I will be skinny again!!!!!!! I have something called GERD. What is that? I have seen other people post that they have it. Is it something that will hurt me? Do I have to take medicine for that? I'm going to look that up. Oh! let me say that my trip to Oxford was a real adventure. I got lost going to Oxford. I got turned around in Tupelo. The only place I have ever been in Tupelo is to the mall. Then I got to my appointment almost an hour late and they still saw me. I left the office around 6 p.m. and had to come back to Columbus. Well I got lost again. Instead of coming back to Tupelo I was headed to Okalona. I was really scared, but I finally got back on track in Okalona. I even got back quicker than it took me to get up there. I had a great day.
Hey Bridgett,
Sorry you got lost coming threw Tupelo,
Just get to, or stay on 78 and take the exit that says Oxford. If you miss the first one, it's a little after you leave Tupelo, you can take the New Albany exit as well and just cross under the freeway, but that way is a little longer.
So did you like Dr. King? Isn't he great? He goes to my church. Sweet man.
The info about GERD-
GERD is an acronym. It stands for Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease. It is often called "acid reflux," "reflux esophagitis," or sometimes inaccurately referred to as "hiatus hernia."
It's that "purple little pill" commercial on TV.
Gastroesophageal reflux is the term used to describe a back-flow of acid from the stomach into the swallowing tube or esophagus.
Almost everyone experiences gastroesophageal reflux at some time. The usual symptom is heartburn, an uncomfortable burning sensation behind the breastbone, most commonly occurring after a meal. In some individuals reflux is frequent or severe enough to cause more significant problems and to be considered a disease. When it reaches that point, it is a medical condition called GERD. So GERD isn't just "something you ate." It's a real disease and a real problem for millions of sufferers.
I had the same thing prior to my surgery, and it cleared up instantly post-op.
I keep checking in on your progress. Glad to here your first meeting went ok.
In the mean time,
Go to your profile page and change your name to something that is not your exact name.
This is a piece of advice I didn't come upon until much later. If you use your exact name, anytime you post to the AMOS website, it is picked up by Google and all of the other search engines.
Just change it to something like "Bridge W" or "White Bridge" or some of the folks even use something like a CB radio "handle, like "Diva B."
This will prevent all of your information from spilling out on to the internet, and leave it only on the AMOS website where everyone is pretty much in the same boat. Yes?
Keep me posted-
Best Wishes-

Hey Bridgett,
Now you are on the road!!! The greenfield filter is to prevent blood clots and that's a good thing to have done. It is only done if you are susceptible to blood clots...smokers, history of blood clots, etc.
What an adventure you had!!! Sometimes getting lost is fun! I wouldn't like be lost on the way to the appt, but on the way back would be kinda fun....as long as you don't get TOO lost.
Boy I see your angel is working hard for you!!!
Keep us posted!
Love,
Arlies
