New To This Site

Hey Everyone, My name is Tammy Shelton. I live in Meridian. I'm 36, married and have an 11 yr. old daughter. I am 5' 3" tall and weigh around 365. In other words- I'm Short and Fat . So, I can't "carry" my weight like some people can. I am trying to have WLS. I have contacted Dr. Blake's office in Jackson, and they are suppose to mail me an appointment with him. My luck, it will take 2 years. lol Maybe they will get me in sooner than later . If anyone has any suggestions on how to get in to see the Dr. quicker or how to make the time seem like its going by faster, PLEASE let me know. I'm excited. I'm scared to death. My emotions are running high and low. I need my appointment!!!!

HI, nice to met u as well. Hope your wait is that long, but i've been here on the board since Nov. 2003, and trying to get the surgery approved before that, a friend told me about the board to help me get through the hard times i'm to the point I may decide not to even have the surgery if I get approved. I'll be praying for you to get an appointment with your choosen surgeon soon, I haven't seen mine yet. Have a good day..

Hey, My Goodness you've been waiting a long time!!! I guess the only approval that I'll need is from Dr. to go ahead and set it up. I don't have insurance, so I'll either be making payments to the Dr. or borrow the money and pay cash. I don't really want to borrow, but I will.

First thing I did was get involved in the support group and talk to people face to face. They have given me a picture of what to expect and the time table to expect.....good luck....Ralph

Hey, Yes I'm going to have to get in one. Anything to help past the time, learn, and meet new people. I like to stay hidden though. So, getting in a group is going to be a BIG step . But, I guess that I'll take it if needed . Where is my invisable paint???

Hey Tammy, Glad to meet you! I have a 12 year old daughter. She started back to school this am in the 7th grade!! Guess, what? I am tall and fat!!! lol Dr. Blake is my doctor also, and I just found out on Friday that I have been cleared for surgery!!! WooHOO!!! I should be getting my date soon! I don't know how to speed the process up for you or for me or I would have already done that!!But you will need a psych eval, a pulmonary study, and possibly a sleep study. If you can possibly go ahead and schedule those, it might help. Your regular PCP can schedule you for them - just make sure that UMC gets copies of everything! Best of luck, and keep us posted. Hey, My daughter started school in the 6th grade this morning . We are in SouthEast. You? I am soooo happy for you. I know that it has probably been a very long wait for you. And here I am, just starting on mine. Thanks for the info. I'll have to see about getting all that done. It would be funny me have most everything done when I go and meet the Dr. huh? He may just realize how excited I really am.
