Hello From Hattiesburg and HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

HI there! My name is Jamie Kim and I am post op about 5 1/2 years. I had open RNY on 1/11/99 and lost 140 lbs. But I have regianed about 30 of that in the last 2 years. I had a near fatal complication 2 years ago. I had scar tissue wrap around my intestines and choked off the blood supply. The intestines had gangrene and they had to do a bowel resection, not to mention a c-section as I was 8 months pregnant at the time. They put a tube in my nose to my stomach to drain anything out. Since being discharged from the hospital I found I can eat much larger portions! As I have said I have regained 30 pounds since then! Anyone ever heard of this? I tried to get an appointment with the gastric bypass surgeon here in Hattiesburg, but he would not even see me. Anyone have any suggestions on where I can go to get some help? I had my surgery done in St Louis, so I am far from home! I would love any advice as I am very, very scared! Thanks so much!

Hey Jamie, Welcome!!! I went and read your profile and see that you have Tricare for insurance. I do too. I know for sure that The University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson does take Tricare. I don't know anywhere else in MS that does- there may be some that I don't know about. But UMC has two bariatric surgeons, Dr. Roger Blake and Dr. Salameh. Dr. Blake's office number is 601-815-1176, and I don't have Dr. Salameh's, but the UMC "general" number is 601-684-1000. You could get his thru either the general number or Dr. Blake's office. Please know that we are here for you and come talk to us anytime.
