Update on Sandy Pierce
Sandy update 7/6
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi Butterflies!!!
I just got back from a visit with dear sweet miss sandy. Her hubby was there, looking more tired then sandy. While there Rose showed up too and as I was leaving Jill was coming in so Sandy had lots of visitors.
Sandy is feeling better then she was last night, however she is still in a great deal of pain. Right now it is not a good idea to call her at the hospital, she cant answer the phone and needs to be resting. It is also a good idea to not call tomorrow until something else is posted. Even Sandy agreed with this, so that tells us all how much pain she is in. Around 1:15pm Rose was able to get the nurse to give Sandy a direct shot of morphine into her IV... poor sandy was having some muscle spasms and it was really hurting her. She is allowed to have the extra morphine every 4 hours, maybe that will help. Sandy said the pain she is in now is worse the wls. She wasnt expecting it to be this bad, kind of bumming her out. However we were telling her it hurts more cause of being opened all the way up, that way Dr. C was able to see everything that he needed to and got rid of all the bad stuff.
They didnt take out her NG tube until this morning, she wasnt happy about that, but is glad it is finally gone. Her throat is pretty sore.... she is on just ice chips today. She looked more like Sandy today then last night. She said she didnt sleep much last night, they didnt give her the sleeping meds she has to take each night until 11pm... and only then because Scott had to raise a rukus with one of the nurses. It took several times today asking for a binder, they finally got her one as I was leaving.
Sandy is doing her best to keep her spirits up. She misses everyone very much. And I told her everyone was asking about her, and sending her get well wishes. She is also down a bit because she will be missing a few meetings. Rose and I told her everything would be just fine and the meetings will go on as planned. Sandy is starting to accept that she needs to rest and recover fully.
I know Deb and Denise are heading over this evening to see her, so they might be able to post some more updates about her then. Since no one can call her for a few days I told her I would post a topic where everyone can post get well wishes for her. I am going back tomorrow after work and during the day I will print out that topic so she can see all the get well wishes. I know that means a lot to her and she is looking forward to it very much.
Please keep her and Scott in your prayers, he is pretty wore out... didnt sleep much himself and has to work tomorrow. Thanks.
Kristye
Is Sandy one of our Mississippi girls? I glad she is doing better, but I don't recognize her name. I am very afraid I am having a senior moment!!! It is very much like me to have those moments.
Speaking of moments, How's the old liver??? I know you are feeling much better!! I can tell by your posts!
Smoochies,
Arlies
Sandy is from the main board. Her site is imnotfatanymore.com She is from Ohio. She is the one who keeps in touch with Ashley's mom for us.
I know you would recognize her if you saw her picture. She is always very supportive and active on the main board.
She has developed adhesions/scar tissue and it blocked her bowels and she had to have major surgery. This is not the first time this has happened, so the previous surgeries made scar tissue that attributed to her problem. I am including a link to her profile b/c I know you will recognize her.
