Angela your Dr will or should tell you what he wants you on but i will give you my opinions Protein has been my hardest thing Im not a big milk drinker and most of the protein shakes you mix with milk the whey protein is awful very chalky tasting but i have found my protein savior lol its by muscle tech called nitrostat exotic fruit flavor you mix one scoop to 4 oz water and that is 24 grm protein youll have to take in 60 to 90 grms a day but that depends on what you eat too, you can get the protein from any of the vitamin stores, the nitrostat is 35 dollars for 2 lbs and other types vary in price youll have to try different things until you find something you like. Good luck matt

At the last UMC support meeting, I asked what was the best protien drink for right after surgery and the group concenus was Carnation Instant Breakfast without sugar. I can't remember exactly how it is named, but that at least will get you pointed in the right spot in the grocery store!!! I have also heard not to stock up, Just get a little because your system may not be able to tolerate them or you may not like the taste - even if you did prior to surgery. I plant to get a variety of protien drinks IF i can afford them! lol Smoochies, Arlies

Hey, Angela. It's me, Kitsy, from the group. Just thought I would let you know an easy and inexpensive way to make your protein shake. 1 c. carb countdown 1 1/2 scoops unsweetened/unflavored soy protein (GNC) Splenda banana and coconut extract or any flavor you desire ice cubes. Not as costly as all those premixed shakes. Nice to have met you and Austin last night. Hope to see you back at the next meeting!
