Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone who had WLS had Medicaid or C.H.I.P.S. I am 17 an am afraid I will lose my insurance when I turn 18 in December.Because my family doesnt have the money to cover this surgery, actaully not even the money to cover the Dr. appointments,I was hoping someone knew if one of these covered WLS.I really need this surgery and afraid because of finanical problems I wont be able to have it.If neither of these cover WLS does anyone know of another program I could possibably sign up?Like I said I really need this surgery, becase at 300 pounds theres alot of things I cant do that I want to one day.Im sure you all can relate. Also my mom isnt exactly "for" this idea.I was wondering if there is any meetings we could go to.Or if I should just try to set up a Drs. Appointment so she could talk to him/her.I really am feeling overwhelmed.I dont know where to start all this.So please feel free to give some advice. Thanks everyone.

MS Vocational Rehabiliation will cover this surgery. I don't know the details, but I do know it covers it. I think if you go thru UMC (at Jackson) it may cover everything...Contact Kristi from Meridian. She is using it and there are others on this site that have used it. Keep in contact with us!! Good luck! Arlies

If you are looking into having this surgery have you talked with your parents? I think that they may have to sign for you to have the surgery. You may want to find out about Medicaid's approval process ASAP and get started in on their request. Start writing down your diet log too and all of that other stuff. If you have any other questions let me know.... Jaunine
