Got my first date

Well, I finally have a date to see Dr. Blake for my consultation. The sad part is it is not until Dec.7!!!!!!But at least that step has been taken. Smiles, Jan

Congratulations Jan. I remember when I got my consult date. I was excited but yet it seemed so far away. My appointment with Dr Blake is June 29. I got the appointment way back in Jan 2004. Now I am very very happy it was that far away b/c I now am very educated on the surgeries. One thing you can do is to read up on sleep apnea and see if you qualify(talking with your dr if you do have symptoms) for testing. If you do it will stregnthen (sp) your heart while you wait and cut out some testing time for you. I had symptoms and got tested and now use a Bi Pap machine. Here are a few symptoms: snoring waking gasping for breath night sweats wake feeling unrested tired/sleepy most of the time Keep us posted on how things are going and keep in touch with us. UMC has monthly support meetings that we need to attend. I am not sure how many, Arlies can probably tell us that since she just had her consult appointment. Maybe we can all meet up there in June or July. I am having liver surgery this week, so I am not sure I will be up for the ride for the support meeting in June.

Donna, thank you for your response. I do have sleep apnea and have been on a CPAP machine since 1996. I am so interested in YOU and your liver surgery. I will be praying for you and waiting to hear how you do. Let me know when it is. I am looking forward to meeting all of you. I hope you are able to come in June. This is all so new to me and the process seems so far away. I really feel I am ready for the surgery,thanks to the AMOS family. I have been reading daily q/a on the message board. Hey Jan, I know it seems like forever and a day away, but it will slip up faster than you can realize!!! My first appt was April 13 and I got it back in November. I thought that's so far off, but it came and went!!! I have my appt with the dietican on Thursday of this week and then I will hopefully be scheduled for surgery. Please come to the monthly support meeting in the meantime. It is the 3rd Thursday of the month. I will post the info when I get it as to the exacts. You will love Dr. Blake.
