I know those of you how have been on here a long time, have saw this posted 100 times. I want to have surgery so bad, but I scared. I have dreams that I had RNY and looked so good and wake up to find it is just a dream. I know my insurance will approve me, but I am scared to take the first step. I ask myself, which doctor should I go to? Can I quit smoking? What if I have severe head hunger and want this reversed? I need some moral support please. I am a very emotional person who does not have any confidence. I have had 4 appointments with Dr.Facundus and cancelled them because I was too scared to make that first step.

Sarah..... I just wanted to respond to you.... I dont have any good information or anything since I am just starting my journey. BUT (just my 2 cents) If you are that scared and think you might want to have it reversed in the future then I dont think you are ready at this time for the surgery. Maybe you need to do more research and think long and hard about all the pros and cons of the surgery before taking any further steps. This decision isnt for everyone.... and you being a very emotional person with lack of confidence, you might need to find a support person close to you to help you with deciding. This post isnt meant in any way to put down on you ... just to share my opinion.... HUGS... I hope you can follow your heart and do what is best for YOU. Susan

I think you need to see a councelor. They will be able to help you work thru the issues you have and help you make an objective decision of whether WLS is for you or not. I do not know your medical history. How much do you weigh what is your height? What are your co morbities? A councelor will be able to go thru all the above questions and help you with emotional eating etc. Donna

I know that if I would have cancelled with my Dr 4 times he would have thought I am not serious about having the surgery.. It appears you are not yet ready... Trust me you will know when you are ready....THe surgery will not help with your emotional issues... They will still be there after surgery.. Its best to get them out of the way before surgery to make your recovery and weight loss more succesful...this surgery is life long, permanent and IRREVERSABLE...It is not something to be taken lightly or for a quick fix... Its not an easy surgery, and its something that needs to be thought about till you cannot think about it any longer I researched constantly for over a year...Maybe you need to go to a support group meeting and talk to people that have been through it...Most of the times you will have to see a phycologist before surgery adn at this point with you backing out of the dr Apointment 4 times it doesnt look to good... Take your time and RESEARCH RESEARCH RESEARCH.....If you want this surgery bad enough you will do whatever it takes...counseling, QUIT smoking..ect.... GOOD luck on your journey and remember We are all here to lend a listening ear if you need someone to talk to, although the replies might seem Harsh we are just being honest... I am 1 and a half weeks post op, and had a rocky surgry and wek after but ya know I don't regret it one bit.... HUgsss Karen Soon To Be...Mini ME
