Hi All.... I really WANT/NEED this surgery but I doubt insurance (CoreSource) will cover it... I am calling again tomorrow (I found an exclusion in my paperwork). I am 5'11" and 350ish pounds... BMI of 49... I have a 10 month old son and would really like to be around to see him grow up..... I have no real health problems due to my weight other than knee and ankle problems... so how can I prove it is a medical necessity if it comes to that???? I dont have a Primary Care Physician... I only have my OB.. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Susan

I would go to a pcp and get the dr to document that my ankle and knee pain is due to my weight. If my insurance would not cover it due to exclusions, I would go to my local vocational rehab office and apply there. Donna

How does Vocational Rehab work.... Is that just for if you CANT work??? I can work, but I am just staying home right now with my son (10 months old)... I guess I need to find a PCP now... LOL... could that be anyone from an General Doctor (like family doc) to an Internest... I did see an internest a few years back for my GallBladder. I just cant believe how clueless I feel right now... I am usually one to have the answers... I think that I want this so bad I just dont want to screw something up in the beginning and have that screw EVERYTHING up. Thanks

Vocational Rehab pays for medical help that will allow you to work or keep you working. So if you are off with your child I am sure that would not matter to them.
