LAUREL PEOPLE?
Hi Barbara,
I got your email. I'm not too good with this format is please bear with me. I wasn't sure whether to respond in the post or by email, so here goes.
I had my surgery (LapRNY) done on 2/26/02 (2+years ago) on the coast in Biloxi by Dr. Amy Rose. I remember weighing 288lbs after my last child was born and 268lbs at the time of my surgery. A size 24 was snug.
I had a few minor glitches with a stricture but overall I can't complain. I weight has been stable for over a year at 160-170lbs and I wear a size 10 jeans and 12 dresses. I have had an abdominoplasty and several hernia repairs. I plan more PS in the future.
WLS is a lifelong decision and should be made as such. You will have ups and downs. The first 4 months are difficult. You are learning a new way to manage stresses instead of with food as well as learning to eat for your health. The pyschological changes are as much a part of WLS as the surgery itself. If you sign up for this surgery, expect change... what those changes will be you cannot know beforehand.
That said, I would do it again in a heartbeat. I have no regrets.
