WELL GUYS, HERE I AM. I MADE IT. I WAS KINDA SCARED, WHICH I ASSURE YOU IS NORMAL. I WAS SO GLAD TO GET HOME I AM NOW ALSO A NON SMOKER. IF YOU ARE A SMOKER AND CONSIDERING THIS, YOU HAD BETTER QUIT AS FAST AS YOU CAN!! I QUIT 4 DAYS AGO. MY SURGERY WAS 4 DAYS AGO. I WAS JUST LUCKY. THEY TOOK ME INTO THE SURGERY ROOM AT 9 AM .. AND ALL I KNOW IS THAT IT TOOK 4 - 4 1/2 HOURS FOR MY SURGERY. THE DOCTOR TOLD MY PARENTS THAT THE STAPLE THINGIE BROKE AND HE HAD TO DO IT THE OLD FASHIONED WAY - ALL HAND STITCHED INSIDE. DO THEY NOT KEEP ANOTHER STAPLER AS A BACK-UP??? I M JUST GLAD TO BE HOME AND WILL TRY TO UPDATE AS I REGAIN MY STRENGTH. GOD IS GREAT!!!

Hi Andrea and thanks for the sweet words and support. AS far as the stapler, I would definately ask that question . It does make you wonder why there was not another stapler as backup. The same doctor and all did my friends surgery almost a month ago and it only took 2 hours. You always hear them say they want to get in and out fast - dont like keeping you under any lokger than necessary. Anyway, I feel much better today, yesterday i felt like 12 mules had taken turns kicking me in the stomach. They say everyones pain is different and I imagine mine is really different. Have a great day and God Bless!!! PS.. I am in no way talking bad about my Doctor- hes wonderful

Lisa I am so happy that you made it through with no problems! I am so excited that Dr. Sudderth saw that there was a malfunction in the stapler and hand sewed it. I promise that everyday will get better and soon you will see some mad results! I will call you later this evening. Love ya sweetie! Jaunine

Lisa, I am glad to hear your surgery went well. Did being a smoker make it harder on you in some way? I am a smoker also, and hoping to have surgery in May.

Dear Melynda, The smoking hurts in many ways. The 1st thing I remember when waking up was trying to cough and my throat being so very dry. The few coughs that I was able to get up were horrible. The nurse (Robby - A real cutie) told me he was concerned about my oxygen/blood level- apparently the smoking makes this very low. I strongly advise you to quit smoking as soon as possible. I have heard about alot of doctors that wont do the surgery if you smoke. You will have coughing after surgery anyway, but the smoking makes it alot different. I am just now able to cough and not have it hurt . Do it for yourself- IF you cant , then at least cut way,way back. Dont be stupid like me. Let me know how all goes.... your friend on the lighter side... Lisa
