First off I would like to say any help anyone could give would be much appreciated,I have been researching WLS for several years and for all the "knowledge" (insert sarcasm here lol ) I have gathered I still do not know where to start.I know my insurance company has a written exclusion policy so that is pretty much a brick wall.I was told I should contact my state's Vocational Rehab can anyone tell me how do i go about doing that and when I contact them and how to I handle that any pearls of wisdom would me much appreciated I also have posted on my state's resource page but have recieved no response yet

Hey Sherry!!! I am a pre-op, too, but with an insurance that does cover WLS. I am waiting on a consult date with a surgeon. I can tell you what I did first, though. I went to my PCP (Primary Care Provider) and said I need a referral to a biartric surgeon(I gave him a specific name and fax number to send the referral to), which he did. I had been on the sight looking around for quite a while and I had "chosen" my first surgeon only to find after his seminar, that his office and hospital doesn't take my insurance. So now, I am looking at another DR at the University in Jackson. If you call (click on "bariatric surgeons", then on the state of MS to get the number) one of the surgeons that does WLS at the university, their nurse or receptionist can tell you how to get the ball rolling with Vocational Rehab - I know of folks who have used that at the University and came out without having to pay a cent!! Keep me up on your progress. I'd love to hear!!! Arlies
