Hi there! I'm new too.  We are close to the same age :o)  I'm on the Kansas side of Kansas City tho LOL  I'm also in the research stage and hoping to have surgery in the fall. I will be doing mine at KU.

I have a two year old that is my life. My husband and my father make up the rest of "my guys"! LOL

which surgery are you looking at doing?  I have a friend that has been very successful with the sleeve tho I think the RNY will be better for me.

It depends on the specific plan.
Straight medicare BMI 40+

Missouri Care BMI 40+,BMI35-39 with health issues,  3 months medically supervised weight loss, Psych eval

Healthcare USA, all above plus 3 year wt history, 6 months medically supervised weight loss, Dietary consult, Cardiology clearance, pulmonary clearance, EGD or Upper GI to rule out Active Ulcer.

Each program might have individual requirements, nearly all require a psychological evaluation.

 Not knowing all your medical situation would be hard to say why your not losing. But from the sounds of it i would find a different physician. I was told to up my protein to help boost my metabolism. Mine is dead :(

Im pretty close to you, and about your age too!  I hope you are finding the right information and surgery for you.  Let me know I am 6 months out and doing pretty good. Do your research and research your surgeon, there is a lot of misinformation all over Kansas City, so hang in there!
