Topic: RE: Hi Everyone! Introductig Me! :)
Oh wow...I didn't see any responses to this post for a bit, and then I come back and all kinds of people have been talking to me! So sorry I didn't respond right away.
My insurance requires its members to enroll in a Bariatric Management program before they will approve surgery, so I've gotten the ball rolling with that. Had an initial consult with the program last week, and now I'm waiting on a call from a case manager, who will be the "business end" of any questions I have or support I might need along the way, up til 6 months post-surgery. I'm leaning towards Lap Band at this point, but keeping my options open for RNY or sleeve if my surgeon thinks either of those is likely to be a better option. I'm just nervous about taking such an irreversible step.
Next step on the journey towards surgery, after the consult with the case manager, will be a discussion with a nurse practitioner, who will manage the medical side of my benefit coordination, and then it will be on to a first consult with a surgeon. I'm telling you, these steps can't happen fast enough!!
Anyway...enough of my rambling. Good to meet everyone!

Did you get your surgery yet? Curious to see where you are. I have completed all the requirements, but cannot see Dr. Eagon until May, grrr...
I am just across the river in IL.

It is true. I haven't been on here much since facebook took over my life. the local Springfield group has a facebook page that I follow posts on but very seldom come on this site. You have done really well! My weight loss slowed down in may at 6months out of surgery. I had a knee replacement then and have since been working from a home office. I don't get out and exercise like I should. I have also started stress eating. My oldest grandaughter had a heart transplant thanksgiving weekend and my youngest grandson passed away in January. I have been reaching for those comfort foods...sugars, carbs etc. and can't seem to get it back under control. We do need to support one another. thanks for posting!

the one I used was Barbara Wachtel-Nash. Her phone # is 417-269-5400. She had been referred to me by coworkers that had bariatric surgery before me. She does quite a few of the pre-bariatric evaluations. Hope this helps. this is the only name I have.
