I know a lot of you are at the COF Support Meeting tonight. How I wish I could have made it! Jo - if you're serious about going down to Springfield sometime in September, maybe we could ride together? Anyone else like to tag along? Let us know!
Well, yesterday was not a good day. Our AC was on the blink, my computer messed up and I had a diagnostic mammogram. Thankfully, the most important thing, the diag. mammogram didn't show anything. I had a screening one done last week and it showed something that's why I had to go back. PTL it's okay!
Had the AC man out first thing this morning. The batteries in my programmable thermostat were bad (I had just replaced them) plus the unit needed cleaning and a lb of free on.
Took my PC tower into the new local computer shop. They were able to save all my information, and uninstall and reinstall vista. Thankfully, it was all a lot cheaper than buying a new one! I have a HUGE external hard drive that I d/l all my pictures on. However, I'm going to set it up to automatically d/l my entire PC at least once a week. That way if anything goes haywire again I'll have the information and won't have to worry if they can't access it! Had David's updated resume on their that we had for and didn't want to lose it. Thankfully, it's still there! Oh well, could have been a lot worse.
Mama Jan - wanted to tell you the Steam Cleaner I bought is GREAT! It's a Shark Professional. I got it BRAND NEW, NEVER OPENED at a garage sale. The lady had bought it from HSN and the packing receipt showed she paid $150 for it! I bought it for only $30!! It'll do ONE HOUR worth of steaming before you have to refill it. It had ALL the attachments including the Squeegee for the windows. It really CLEANS!! I love it for my shower doors, bathtubs, showers, mirrors, windows, etc!! Best $30 I spent in a long time!
Jo - let me know about September. I might just want to go to the COF too!
Barb - Wanna join us?
Connie - Wanna join us?
Anyone else I might be missing from the KC Metro area that would like to ride with us to Springfield for next month's COF meeting, let us know. Who knows we might have a car full of people! Would be great to see everyone again!
Well, I'm going to scoot. I'm on-line d/l all the updates for Vista...going to take awhile.
Hope you all have a great and safe weekend.
Try and stay cool!

I used to have a bad habit of judging people by the looks of their outside. I dunno why I would do that, maybe cause I was so used to people judging me for being so big. You know the comments we’ve all heard when we are big, “oh my he/she better stop eating" , “mommy look he/she is FAT", “ why don’t they just push away from the table", and they comments go on and on. I used to hate to be judged for what I looked like and yet there were times I’d do the same thing, ugh! God forgive me! It’s really a good thing God don’t judge us from our outer looks but from what’s in our hearts. When you get to know people and you can experience what’s in their heart you’ll be so blessed.
I just love Psalms today, talking about the joy of the Lord and praising Him. Holy joy is the heart and soul of praise and that is here pressed upon the righteous. Thankful praise is the breath and language of holy joy. When we have that kind of joy in our lives we will not only feel blessed, we will be blessed. At prayer meeting last night the Pastor said something that stuck with me, he said “What a pity it is that this earth, which is so full of God's goodness, should be so empty of His praises; and that of the multitudes who live upon his bounty, there are so few who live to his glory!" That is so true, every where we look we can see the goodness of God and the beauty He created and yet so few give Him any praise and glory, sure makes me think back on my life and if I praise and thank Him enough.
Today’s Reading
Nehemiah 5:14-7:73
1 Corinthians 8:1-13
Psalm 33:1-11
Proverbs 21:8-10
Daily Devotional
"…let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith…"
(Hebrews 12:1-2, NKJ)
It's easy to be tempted to go through life competing with everyone around us. When we see someone who's more talented, better looking or has more gifts, instead of running our race and being comfortable with who we are, oftentimes we feel inferior and think, "I've got to catch up to them." The problem with this unhealthy competition is that it's a never-ending cycle. There will always be someone ahead of us. But, it's a very freeing thing when you realize, "I'm not competing with you. I don't have to have as big a house as my neighbor to feel good about myself. I don't have to keep up with my co-worker. I don't have to be a certain size. No, I understand that I'm not in competition with my friend, my neighbor or my co-worker. Instead, I'm going to be the best me that I can possibly be." Friend, that's an attitude God can work with. When you focus on being who God made you to be, that's when you'll rise up higher and position yourself for every spiritual blessing He has in store for you!
A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father God, I humbly come to You giving You all that I am. I choose to keep my eyes on You and allow You to work in my heart and mind. I declare that I am free from competition today. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
I'm not sure that Missouri Bariatrics does that procedure but I do know they know the doctor that does and will send you there, at least thats what they were gonna do for me but since the "Rose" procedure is still fairly new most insurances wont pay for it yet, at least I know Medicare/Medicaid wont as if a couple months ago.

Susie, I saw Dr. Dass yesterday to fix my dog ear on the right and we were talking about you!!! It was all good!!! He took quite a hunk out of my side but he and Danielle made sure it was numb. It looks so much better now and will look even better when its completely healed. KU is such a good place.
Hugs,
Lana

Wish I was coming to you meeting. I'm going to try to come down in September but I want to be sure you will be there. Looks like that meeting will be on the 10th. I'm off all that week so that would be a good time. We would stay in Springfield. I think you have a full house. Give me the address of the meeting so I can find a hotel close by.
As for the malabsorption, I understood from my surgeon it is a lifelong thing. He's been doing this for about 15 years so I think he knows what he's talking about. He recommends 2 protein supplements a day for life because he says you can't eat enough protein in a day.
Tomorrow I meet with my student and embark on teaching her to write. Don't know if I'm up for this but I'm going to try.
Tammy says she doesn't care much for veggies. Try the raw veggies with some low fat Ranch dressing or any kind you like. I always loved veggies until after WLS and now I don't like them as much. I just can't eat broccoli or cauliflower but I do love carrots, cooked or raw. I do like squash and snow peas. By the time I eat my protein I don't have much room for anything else.
Really like the Any Whey protein powder. It's unflavored and works well in hot foods. I put a scoop in my Click drink and it doesn't change the taste. That adds about 20 grams of protein to my drink.
