Oh my goodness the temps last night were down so we turned off the a/c and opened the windows and this morning so far it is beautiful. you know that faint touch of Fall air .....not that miserable stuff we have been having. and isnt suppose to get above 88 here today. we will see.  88 sounds like heaven...

Whew im sure glad the week end is over. We had the grandsons birthday and had several people staying here over the week end. we had 2 tents even sat up in the back yard area ...and of course I was the one that had to cook for everyone. I told them all that i really enjoy all of them being here but next year we will have the bar b q grill done and it will be big enough for them to all cook everything outside....we have the stuff to work on it now but havent been able to do much due to the awful heat. It is going to be really big ...and even have an oven to bake breads and pizzas in ....We bought the design and have been getting the materials for it ..only need a door for the oven either made or some how come up with something that will really work...

Since it is so pretty out this morning im going to get this posted and get outside ....not going to work too much since i have to go to work this afternoon and im already tired. and i have t work tomorrow too , then off for a few days.
i guess i can handle 2 days this week lol ...
I dont know why im so tired , I take my vits every day , i have only missed a few days when i had my knee surgeries and that was because i was told to quit them. I have an order from Dr. H to get my blood work done so i guess i will take that in with me today so they wil have the vials they need to check some of the stuff he wants checked. but i have to stop taking them for 48 hours before the blood is drawn so that would be Thursday now since i have already taken my vits this morning. lol
it seems crazy ...

well got to go and get busy , making sure all of my stuff is ready for work

talk to you all later. have a great and wonderful , fabulous , day

Boy was the Word this morning good, some kind of harsh but really good.  Sometimes God has to be straight and to the point with us in order to get His message across to us that can be hard headed and stubborn.  Corinthians this morning really spoke out loud to me.  Nothing in Scripture is written in vain; and it is our wisdom and duty to learn from it. Others have fallen, and so may we. The Christian's security against sin is not to trust himself, if that makes any sense. God has not promised to keep us from falling, if we do not look to ourselves. To this word of caution, a word of comfort is added. Others have the like burdens, and the like temptations: what they bear up under, and break through, we may also. God is wise as well as faithful, and will make our burdens according to our strength. He knows what we can bear. He will make a way to escape; he will deliver us from it.  God encourages us to flee from sin, and to be faithful to Him. We cannot fall by temptation, if we hold on tight to him. Whether the world smiles or frowns, it is an enemy; but believers shall be strengthened to overcome it, with all its terrors and enticements. The fear of the Lord, put into our hearts, will be the great means of safety.  Again in Psalms it says in Vs 19, “The righteous face many trials but the Lord is always there to rescue them".  That just backs up what was said in Corinthians, even though we might face trials and troubles, the Lord wont put on us what we can’t handle and He will always be there to rescue us, always.  What did you think of Vs. 16 of Proverbs this morning?  Common sense huh?  Boy did that hit me square between the eyes.  If we stray from common sense we will end up in the company of the dead, that’s one place I don’t care to be, common sense is so easy to follow if we think about it, that’s always my problem sometimes, acting on things before I think, if I will only think things through I’ll see that common sense is starring me right in the face.

Today’s Reading

Nehemiah 11:1-12:26
1 Corinthians 10:14-33
Psalm 34:11-22
Proverbs 21:14-16

Daily Devotional

"For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do"
(Ephesians 2:10, NIV)

Are you comfortable in your own skin? In other words, do you recognize yourself as the treasure God made you; or are you constantly looking for approval and comparing yourself to a neighbor, co-worker or friend? Do you try to out-dress them or out-perform them? Are you always looking for ways to one-up them?

Friend, it's time to let all of that go. Comparison is a distraction. Comparison is a thief. It steals your time, energy, focus and joy. You aren't here to impress anybody; you don't have to prove anything because you are God's special workmanship. He created you with a purpose for a purpose. You are empowered and equipped to do everything He's called you to do.

If you will choose to stay free from a spirit of competition and just run your own race, not only will you enjoy your life more, but you'll see your gifts and talents come out to the full. You'll see His blessing and favor in a greater way, and you'll move forward into the life of victory He has in store!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Heavenly Father, thank You for setting me free from competition. I choose to rest in You knowing that I am Your workmanship. Thank You for directing and ordering my steps. I bless and praise You today. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Sorry this is late, I’ve been having to be at work at 4am and once I get home I’m so tired from work and the heat I just about collapse in the recliner.  I’m gonna post this tonight and try and work on Monday’s post cuz we have to get up early and head out for a quick day trip to Tulsa, we’re taking Susan’s dad to his new place.  Thanks for all your prayers and support.

We see in Nehemiah the true faithfulness of God.  He gave them the fertile and prosperous land and their land was producing all kinds of harvests but they were disobeying God so He let them destroy themselves and things were not going their way.  But then they cried for God to help them and out of His mercy and grace He helped them and they were becoming prosperous once again.  But then again they turned away from God and were disobeying Him, doing their own thing so God let them destroy themselves once again.  Once again they cried out to God for help, He heard their cries and helped them again.  I think this went on and on.  This really spoke to me this today, showing me that no matter what we do we can turn to God and He will hear us, no matter how many times we have sinned against God He will hear us and be faithful to helping us out of our own sins.  Even if we turn our backs on God time after time, He will be faithful to forgive us, pick us up, dust us off and help us on our way.  If that isn’t love I don’t know what is.  We pretty much see the same thing in Corinthians of how faithful God is to us.  You know, God only wants the best for us but sometimes we just wont allow Him to give us His best but when WE have faith in God and are faithful to Him and His word, watch out because His blessing will flow like a river.

Nehemiah 9:22-10:39
1 Corinthians 9:19-10:13
Psalm 34:1-10
Proverbs 21:13

Daily Devotional

"If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? But in fact God has arranged the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be"
(1 Corinthians 12: 17-18, NIV)

In the New Testament, John was baptizing a crowd of people and drawing a lot of attention. Somebody came up and said, "John, are you the Christ or should we keep looking?" Without missing a beat John said, "No, I am not the Messiah."

See, John knew what he was, but he also knew what he was not. It's just as important to know what you're not because if you don't realize your limitations, you'll get drawn into areas that may look impressive and may feed your ego, but they are outside of your gifting and calling; outside of what God anointed you to do. Anytime you go outside of your limitations, it will be a constant struggle. Don't let that be you! Instead, stay focused on what you're good at. Follow peace in your heart and know your limitations because God has created you just the way He wants you to be!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Heavenly Father, thank You for loving me. Thank You for choosing me. I ask that You help me to know my limitations. Help me to know my place in the body of Christ so that I can bring glory and honor to You. In Jesus Name. Amen.

Where are you Jan?  Surely you have all those weeds pulled by now.  I have steam cleaned the kitchen floor, moved a bookcase out to the garage and brought in a new, smaller one which doesn't begin to hold all my cookbooks.  I have several WWs cookbooks I'm giving to the thrift store to sell.  I looked thru them and the carbs are way too high in most of the recipes.

Yesterday I met with my student I'm tutoring and it went much better than the first meeting.  She can print in English, but can't write in cursive.  I gave her some worksheets to practice on.  She is from Honduras.  I asked about her high school years and did she ever write papers.  She said she never had to write a paper.  Odd??

Not much going on with me today.  I have some errands to run and should go walk at the gym, but not sure that will happen.  I did make an appointment with my surgeon for next month.  Sure hope I can get some pounds off.  The exercize guru will be all over me.

Nehemiah has been getting pretty interesting.  Nehemiah knew that the safety of a city, under God, depends more upon the inhabitants than upon its walls. Every good gift and every good work are from above. God gives knowledge, He gives grace; all is of Him, and therefore all must be to Him. What is done by human prudence must be ascribed to the direction of Divine Providence. But woe to those who turn back from the Lord, loving this present world and happy those who dedicate themselves, and their substance, to his service and glory.

I just love how Psalms said in vs. 18 – 22 that we must “trust" God if we are to enjoy His kind love.  You know, it really takes total trust in God in order to even read His scriptures.  When we read the Bible with total trust it will come to life to us.

I really liked the devotional this morning talking about set backs.  I know we’ve all had set backs and have experienced what its like to be disappointed because something did not work out like we had planned or something just did not go our way like we had hoped.  It’s in those set backs I really think God speaks to us and always has a lesson for us to learn.  When disappointment comes if we’ll work through it and seek God and His righteousness we’ll find a bigger blessing then we could ever imagine.  Just keep on seeking God and what He has for you, you wont be disappointed there.

Today’s Reading

Nehemiah 7:73-9:21
1 Corinthians 9:1-18
Psalm 33:12-22
Proverbs 21:11-12

Daily Devotional

Isaiah 43:18, NIV

"Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past"

Every person, no matter how much faith they have or how good a person they are will face disappointments. It may be something simple like not getting that promotion you really hoped for, or not closing that big deal you worked so hard on. Maybe you didn't qualify for a house you really wanted. Or, it may be something more serious like a relationship not working out, the death of a loved one, or some kind of illness in your body. Whatever it may be, the reality is that we’re all going to suffer some setbacks. But I believe one of the main keys to overcoming disappointments is learning to let go of the past. The past weighs you down and holds you back.

If you feel "stuck" today, you may want to examine what you're holding on to. Be willing let go of the past by choosing forgiveness. Who hurt you? Who wronged you? Release it to God. Do you need to forgive yourself? Do you need to receive God's forgiveness? Make the choice today to let go of the past so that you can experience the bright future God has in store for you!

A Prayer For Today:

Heavenly Father, search my heart and mind today. Show me any area where I may be holding on to the past. Help me to receive Your forgiveness so that I can extend forgiveness to others and move forward in the wonderful plan You have for me. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

We got rain last night but it didn't do much to cool things off.  At least we didn't get the terrible wind some areas got.

Went out for breakfast at IHOP and I ordered from the kids' menu for $1.99.  Had a scrambled egg, 1 strip of bacon and 2 little mini cinnamon things.  I'm such a cheap date!!

I'm meeting my student at 1:00 today.  I worked on the lesson plan last night.  Where we begin depends on if she can write in English.  She wants to take some college classes but I'm thinking it could take years before she can write well enough to take college classes.

Darn, but I hoped the meeting would be on the 10th.  That would have been perfect since I'm off that week.  I looked for hotels yesterday but needed the address of where the meeting is.

So, Debbie, I might be interested in a girls' only trip.  Hubby can stay home with the dogs.  My Sophie would really appreciate that.  Not sure I can take the 17th off until I look at my work calendar.  It does sound like fun!!
