Now move onto the book of Esther. The book of Esther does not mention the name of God. This is strange for a book that is in the Bible. Sometimes God seems to be silent. We might even think that he does not care about us. But the writer of the book of Esther, which is unknown to us, probably wanted his/her readers to realise that God is always in control. Although we cannot see God, he is always doing things in the world. Nobody can stop his plans. That goes true for the devotional too, when we are going through a tough time, we might think God doesn’t care or isn’t around but that’s so far from the truth, God is always there and knows everything we are going through and cares beyond our imagination. He might be allowing us to go through these hard times to shape us up, to teach us what He wants for our lives, to mold our character, whatever it may be God is always and completely in control.
Today’s Reading
Esther 1:1-3:15
1 Corinthians 11:17-34
Psalm 35:17-28
Proverbs 21:19-20
Daily Devotional
Habakkuk 3:17-18
"Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Savior"
We all face challenges, difficulties, and times when things don't go our way. God doesn't send these storms, but He will allow us to go through certain things in order to shape our character and prove our faith. Really, it's in our times of difficulty that we grow and develop.
God wants to use the tough times in our lives to do a work in us. He wants to strengthen and develop us. Our attitude in times of adversity is the evidence of our maturity. Are we going to treat people right even when we’re being mistreated? Are we going to stay full of joy even when the bottom falls out? Are we going to be faithful even in the dry seasons of our lives when we don't see anything good happening?
It may take more effort. You may have to work harder to keep a good attitude, but remember, attitude is the key to your promotion. As you keep that positive attitude of faith and expectancy, even in times of adversity, God will deliver you and move you forward into the destiny He has prepared for you!
A Prayer For Today:
"Heavenly Father, I want to grow spiritually and be more like You. I choose to trust You in times of adversity knowing that You are working things out for my good. Renew a right attitude within me by Your Spirit. In Jesus' Name. Amen."
We have ATT U-verse which is digital and really like it. Everything is undergroud so it doesn't go out when it rains. That was the only thing we didn't like about DISH or Direct TV. Every time it rained we had to TV.
I'm going to take dinner to my care receiver then go to the gym for an hour. The Yellow Squash dish I posted is really good and I liked it, but it didn't like me. I ate it twice and it came up both times. Really disappointed because I liked it. Today for lunch I had Healthy Choice Bean & Ham soup. Not very good. I just don't care for HC products.
Anyone watching Batchelor Pad? I think it's really a dumb show. I read thru both episodes.

You are so very welcome I am glad that I could help . I also thank you very much for the info on Dr.H I think everything is going to go just fine I can not wait to get my journey started. I am sure I will have many more questions before my time comes, glad to know I have people to talk to . Mindy
Mindy,
That's exactly the info I need! I really appreciate it!
Thanks so much!!
BTW, I had Dr. Hornbostel do my RNY on 3/5/07. He is the GREATEST doctor there is and he and his wife/Margie (who is also one of his nurses) truly CARE about their patients. He gives all his Gastric Bypass patients his HOME and CELL phone numbers before they leave the hospital. I've actually had to call him a couple times and he or Margie actually answer!
Please let me know if you have any questions. I'll try and answer to the best of my ability. There are a lot on the board who have/had Dr. H and like I say, we all think he's the BEST! :)

I cut the recipe in half because there's just 2 of us.
4 cups sliced yellow squash
1/2 cup chopped onion
35 low fat Hi Ho crackers, crushed
1 cup reduced fat shredded Cheddar cheese
2 eggs, beaten
3/4 cup milk
1/4 cup butter, melted
1 t. salt
ground black pepper to taste
Butter spray for top
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Place squash and onion in a large skillet over medium heat. Pour a small amount of water over squash and onions. Cook till tender, about 5 minutes. Drain well and place in a bowl.
In a medium bowl, mix together cracker crumbs and cheese. Stir half the cracker mix into the squash and onions. Mix together eggs and milk; add to squash. Stir in the melted butter and season with salt and pepper. Spread into a 9x13" baking dish. Sprinkle with remaining cracker mixture. Spray top with butter spray. Bake for 25 minutes or until top is lightly browned.
Serves 12
NOTE: You could use Butter Buds instead of the butter. The original recipe called for 2 tablespoon of butter dotted over the top but I didn't use it.
