Topic: Scared to death
Well it just gets closer and closer . and I have always had this scared feeling in the back of my mind , but I try to stay possitive. Then my husband tells me today that he talked to someone yesterday whos sister had surgury with Dr. H and four weeks after he buried her cause of some bowel issue? I feel like I have been drinking these shakes for no reason , I feel like I have gained weight But do not know have not weighed . I just do not know what to think , because I want the surgury cause I want to be healthy and I want to be able to do things with my boys . But I just sit here scared to death that I am gonna leave, to leave them with there father and then who is going to take care of them if I am not here ??? The more that I sit here and think about it the more scared I get and the more I cry !!! Mindy

If hubby's new job does not cover it keep in mind that there are companies that you can get a loan with and make payments. The company that seems to be the one most people use is called www.SurgeryLoans.com . And think of it as an investment in your life if nothing else your quality of life. What could be more important to your family than being around to love and raise those children? Ideally you will have coverage but just in case... don't let it be the end to you getting surgery is my point. So many companies are trimming their costs that there are fewer companies that cover WLS than have the exclusion of it. It raises the insurance costs per employee of course so that is why they are trimming it. Just something to think about.
I too have been heavy all my life. And I developed some very serious health issues and the weight just seemed to pile on quickly. Thankfully I finally was able to get my surgery and now I am healthier than I have been in years. Hasn't undone all my health issues but I continue to improve even 3 years out.
Hang in there you will make it happen one way or the other!!

Thanks Connie, I have not heard for sure if my ins is one or not> My husband works for the Department of Corrections so we r through the states UMR right now. I figure since the word going around is that our ins is not going to be worth anything next year WLS will be cut but have not heard for sure. I am so ready to say I guess I will just be heavy the rest of my life. I have never known anything but being mrobidly obese. At the age of 12 and 13 I was already over 300lbs. My mom took me to the dr at a younger age because of my weight to try and get me help. Back then they did not do anything. he told her I would grow out of it....Wrong! I was always a super active kid so that was not my problem...I did eat more than I should have but not by a lot. Now here I am over 400 lbs and have a wonderful husband and 5 wonderful boys to raise ages !3, 11, 8, 3, and 2 that I want to stay around for and can't seem to get any help. I have never been able to lose over 90lbs on my own before I start going back up. So disgusted with this whole process.
Guess I just needed to vent a little...sorry.

Topic: Happy Labor Day
Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine and a day off. I just got back from Dallas visiting my son. We had a good trip but its always nice to come home. We actually looked at a few neighborhoods down there. It would be nice to have everything close by but hard to get used to how close the houses are. Still just talking about it, no serious plans yet.
I have lots of stuff to get done today so I better get busy. Enjoy your day.

Suzy I am so sorry you have had such a difficult time trying to get help. Just not fair and I hear these stories so often it makes me crazy!! By the way I work part time for a Bariatric Surgeon if I seem to know more than normal about these issues.
I understand you wanting to get this out of the way now but just so you know each insurance company has their own requirements so you may not need it at all or you may have to have done all this within the last year from when you begin the process. Just keep in mind it may be all for nothing when push comes to shove.
However it all works out please please do not give up cause life on the other side of WLS is so worth all the efforts it takes to get there.
If I can help you with any other questions please feel free to send me a private message or ask here.
Wishing you all the best,
Connie

Unfortunantly I think I am as of right now, but I still want to go ahead with the process and have it done. My husband Is going to graduate with his bach degree in the spring and will be getting a job in his field. So I want to have this done in case the new ins would require them as well. The dr weight loss attempt is a sore subject with me...LOL I should have had my surgery this summer. I was doing my medical 6 month session when my dr and his office insited I did not need to be seen every 30 days. I told them and told them I did. Guess who was right. Guess who's weight loss attempt went out the window. I was so upset that I just quit doing anything till now.
Thanks,
Suzy
Thanks,
Suzy

You are just a few days out so don't get discouraged. I had severe nausua for about 4 days and I was thinking being fat wasn't so bad. Had some buyer's remorse but once the nausua was gone, everything went well and I've had no other problems.
Have you talked to your doctor?
Be patient. It will get better.

Topic: RE: WHAT HAPPENING SUNDAY
Hey Jan,
We're doing good here, getting adjusted to the "big city" life lol. I start classes tomorrow, I'm pretty excited about that and nervous at the same time, it's gonna be great though. Susan about has everything unpacked, we had to rent a small storage to put things that wont fit in the apartment, hopefully when it cools off some more we'll go through those boxes in the storage and condence things down and fit the rest in the apartment here. How's George doing with the job? I hope Dora isn't being to rough on him, she can really be a bugger sometimes. I never thought I'd miss working at a place like I do now, I really miss being there around the residents and all, the kitchen crew for the most part are great people to work around.
I doubt we can make the meeting on the 17th, we'll plan for the Oct. meeting though. On friday's my last class ends at 12:30 so we'd be able to make it. We're gonna try and find a support group here in Tulsa to get to on a monthly basis, I've looked a lil but havn't found anything like the group there. I found 2 that are by the surgeons here but both are for their patients only, ai yi yi, I'm sure there is one if I look hard enough, I'll have to go over to the OK board and ask them.
Susan's dad is doing much better, we went over there yesterday and he looked really good and says he is feeling better. He's even talking a lil bit more, they do speech therapy on him every day, well mon - fri, and it seems to be helping some.
Well I gotta get busy around here, Susan has a ton of trash and boxes to take to the dumpster, it wont get there by itself lol. Hope you had a great time with your grandkids and all, we're keeping Michelle in our prayers believing she stays on track and finds a good church to get hooked into, that will help them both for sure. Y'all stay cool.
See ya soon,
Andy

It gets better. Things need to heal and if you take things slow you will get some things down that won't make you feel to bad. The bowel issue took me a couple weeks. I had to start eating real food and it took me a while to that. I still feel sick sometimes when I eat but not too often and believe me I eat a lot now. Hang in there.

I seem to sip on everything, and trying to get fluids down. Not happening, not enough anyways... then diarrhea, then I have to use crushed pain meds allergic to the liquid percocet...and now eating small bites of cottage cheese to prevent nausea when taking crushed meds...
anyone else have that problem?
