Hello! Sorry about the long post...I tend to rattle
I am currently going through the MyNewSelf program at Des Peres, so hopefully I can provide you with some info.
I am scheduled for VSG with Dr. Richard Follwell on 10/18. I have been very happy with the service and support I have gotten from the staff and the doctor. They were very helpful when submitting to insurance (I have United Health Care) and I have not had any delays with them; they have always been able to answer any questions I have had or called me back quickly with an answer if needed.
I have met with Dr. Follwell once and will see him again before surgery (my insurance requires I see him within 30 days of the surgery and my initial appointment fell outside of that time frame). I like him as a doctor quite a bit. He is knowledgeable and was willing to answer my questions without making me feel like I was wasting his time or anything like that. He is direct and to the point, which may turn some off, but I'm not going to him for his charm (although many find him quite handsome ), but rather his skill and expertise, which I have heard and experienced nothing but good things about.
I have the dietitian class on the same day as my doctor appointment, and then I go back a few days later for all of the pre-op testing. I can't give you any information on any of that, as I haven't gone through it yet, but I can keep my eyes/ears open for you if you have any specific questions I can answer for you later.
The seminar I went to was led by Dr. Darin Minkin, the other doctor in the practice (there are two now, since Dr. Richardson left). He was very nice, knowledgeable and again was great with answering questions the audience had. There is another person on the VSG board that is going to Dr. Minkin and seems happy with her doctor, but has had some issues with the office staff. Hopefully she will pop in and give her thoughts as well.
I'm not sure if you have looked yet, but their website has a lot of information on it if you are interested: http://www.mynewselfbariatrics.com I started the online education part tonight (you have to request a login...not sure if that is for "official" patients only?) and have been really impressed by it. It looks like it goes through a company that specializes in patient education, so it isn't Des Peres created, but I thought it was a neat little add on. They also have post-op support groups, but I haven't attended any of those yet so I can't speak about them.
The only costs I have had were two small co-pays from my initial appointment with the doctor. My insurance covers the surgery, and I will only have my deductible to pay. I was told I will pay that on the day of surgery. I have not had any other bills or payments to make. I have not been required to purchase any supplements or meds from them, although that may change after the dietitian class. If I recall correctly, the cost of the surgery includes your after care doctor appointments, but I may be confusing that with something else I read along the line somewhere. That might be a good question to ask them directly, as I am sure your payment type would change how that all would work.
Overall, (and I know I am coming off as a total cheerleader, but I'm being honest) I have been really happy with my experience over the last 7 months I have been working with them. Any issues I have had have been insurance stalling around related, and there was literally nothing I had to do to get the insurance whipped into shape to approve, Chris the program manager was all over it. Granted I am on the pre-surgery side of things, I have been very happy with my choice of programs. Let's just hope my surgery goes just as well!
Feel free to let me know if you have any other questions or PM me. Good luck in your search!
Hi OH,
Have had a really stressful day, wasn't anything but stuff I did, but it still stressed me out. I thought I had fried my PC, called my son and told him, he came out to try and see why I couldn't get my computer to recognize my wireless router and get me back on the internet. Turns out the router was fried and after a few minutes he figured it out and we disconnected the router and got me back online. Don't know what to do about the router, just bought it and now you can smell that it's fried. Have another DSL modem coming so guess I'll connect my new laptop to it in my room and at least I can work that way.
Jan~I think you should tell work that you want to cut back to just a couple of days or so a week, and tell them to hire someone else if they are that short. Yeah the banks are all going the same way. Got a consoldation loan so I can get all of my little bills paid off, even though the check was a local bank they still put what they say is a two day hold, but turns out to be 5 days because of the week-end. They don't count the day you deposit, even if it's early. Guess they want to collect as much interest as they can before you start pulling the money out. I think it's worse than the dark ages, at least banks used to try to help their faithful longtime customers more than they do now.
Can't wait til Tuesday afternoon. Have to really try and find things to do so I don't start thinking about all of the possibilities, like will I even be able to pass DOT physical, or will Werner just find a reason to not hire me back. It's really crazy how I can always find something that could go wrong. I have been trying to think of God and all the blessings he has provided for me, not just the recent ones, but all the other things he has done through my life. When I do that it helps keep me focused on the possitive.
Well have to do a pickup and delivery tonight so will post this. Love all of you very much.

Susie~I applaud you for being with that many Kindergartners for even that long. I love the little kids, but just my 3yr old grandson can wear me down in thirty minutes. So I say God bless you and all the other teachers out there, the kids are our blessing. The hugs are the best.
I drove school bus for 8 years, had from K-12. and the highschoolers were the least trouble. Loved it until they took too much of our authority away, got tired of some of the parents not accepting the behavior of their children, and the schools I drove for were too money hungry to step in and back the drivers most of the time.
I'm really praying for a mild winter, going back over the road would be nice to not encounter too much Ice and snow. Actually the snow isn't so bad as the ice.

Jan, can't you have them put in on just a couple days a week? My pay and benefits are very good and my job is pretty much stress free so I'm going to keep working. Raises this year were lousy. I got $500 for the whole year but every little bit helps.
I made Chili yesterday, new recipe. It has a tablespoon of molasses and a liquid smoke. The liquid smoke gave it a different taste. Really liked it. I'm taking dinner to my Stephan Minister care received. Also, made cornbread with bacon bits and cheese and a sugar free Eclair dessert.

I was not happy with the doctor for not talking to me. It's like I'm not important any more.
My PC orders blood work for me yearly so she would catch anything that is wrong.

I work for next to nothing so I ask myself every paycheck why do I do it. I guess it gets me out of the house.
I hope next week I do not feel cold and start complaining. I am ready for fall but not cold. Enjoy the beautiful day.

"If you fully obey the LORD your God and carefully follow all His commands I give you today, the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. All these blessings will come upon you and accompany you if you obey the LORD your God"
(Deuteronomy 28:1-2, NIV)
There is a blessing that God has for every one of His children that will cause you to rise out of lack into abundance! It will take you from barely getting by to living in overflow. It brings supernatural increase! We were never created to drag through life constantly struggling. If we're going to receive His blessings, we have to come into agreement with His Word in our minds, hearts and actions.
This commanded blessing is found in Deuteronomy 28. It tells us that if we will live a life that honors God and obey His Word, then all these blessings will chase us down and overtake us. It says that you will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country. God will open up to you His good treasury and cause you to lend and not borrow. He will make you plenteous in goods and give you a surplus of increase.
Today, let this truth sink down into your spirit: the Creator of the universe has commanded blessing upon you. Receive it today and choose to walk in complete obedience to Him!
A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father God, thank You for Your commanded blessing. I receive Your truth today which sets me free. Help me, by Your Spirit, to follow Your commands so that I may live a life that is pleasing to You. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

"And God said, 'Let there be light,' and there was light"
(Genesis 1:3, NIV)
When God commanded light to come forth, it came—at 186,000 miles per second! Friend, when God commands something, you can be sure that it's going to happen.
Just like He commanded the worlds to be formed, God has commanded that you be blessed. He has commanded that you prosper and increase. He has commanded that you be above only and not beneath. As a believer and follower of Jesus, you are called to be the head and not the tail. If you will get into agreement with God and not let other people or your own thoughts talk you out of it, then you will see this commanded blessing take you further than you ever thought possible.
Today, set your heart and mind on His goodness. Believe that He is ready to take you places that you've never dreamed. Receive His promises because He is faithful. If God said it, He will do it! Get ready because He is pouring out His blessing on every area of your life!
A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father God, thank You for Your goodness and faithfulness. Thank You for the power in Your Word to change my world. I choose to get into agreement with You and declare that Your will be done in my life. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

But whatever I am now, it is all because God poured out His special favor on me--and not without results. For I have worked harder than any of the other apostles; yet it was not I but God who was working through me by His grace"
(1 Corinthians 15:10, NLT)
In this day and age, many people are filled with worry about their future. They live stressed out, wondering "What's going to happen if I get laid off?" "How am I going to handle it if my loved one doesn't make it?" Or, "My parents are getting older. How can I take care of them and my own family as well?" Here is the answer: God's grace is going to be there at every stage of your life to help you do whatever you need to do. God's grace is what saves us, but that's not all. His grace is His enabling power. His grace will give you the strength, wisdom and favor to accomplish what you could not normally accomplish on your own. His grace is sufficient for whatever you need in your future.
If you're in a difficult marriage, if you're raising a child that's hard, if you're facing a sickness, one thing you can count on is that the grace of God will be there. Receive His grace today, by faith, and let Him empower you to walk through that difficulty into a place of supernatural victory in Jesus' name!
A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father in heaven, thank You for Your grace and mercy upon my life. Thank You for empowering me to rise above every obstacle I may face. Thank You for restoring my future and equipping me to move forward into the victory You have for me. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Im just so so tired. and i think that is what is making me feel so depressed and i am eating and eating , so i need to stop both of them. or all three of them , work, tiredness and eating lol
Thanks Susie for doing the post for me yesterday.....sounds like you have been busy with the subtistute teaching like Debbie D has been ....and working the babies at schools. they are really cute and say some really cute things at those ages but know that they can really be tiring too.
Didnt get my check yesterday till late so have to go into town this mornirng and get it in the bank....forgot to put it in the night deposit last night on the way home. darn.....i may just wait till tomorrow and put it in the night deposit. Bank of America is awful about not putting your check into the account of things unless you ca**** first and then deposit it , it doesnt count for about 3 days. now they dont do that with the SS checks. dont know why they do it with others. Crazy i told them this was like the middle ages. that they wasnt any reason that they couldnt check in a matter of seconds whether it was good or not ....
well got to get my protein coffee made and get the first amount of protein down. I know if i get in enough protein i dont nibble so much during the day. so will fix a protein shake later on this morning too. ....hope you have a good day and good week end. love you all. a lot
