Topic: Sedalia WLS group first sunday of every month..who attends?
I was wondering how many people attend the support group. I was going to attend this last weekend, but the stomach flu detered me.

How many attend this Sedalia, MO WLS meeting? How long is the meeting as I am driving over an hour....

Quick post to let you all know that we're home from New York vacation. We had a great time - ended up driving home because of the hurricane and cancelled flights but it was OK - we had fun keeping each other awake playing silly word games. John did all the driving and I did the singing and entertaining. We drove from 12:30pm Thursday at LaGuardia and got to St. Louis where we turned in the car at 11:30am Friday. AND we managed to sleep about 5 1/2 hours in Columbus, Ohio. It was definitely a whirlwind trip - but we made it just fine. Saw Itzak Perlman at the NY Philharmonic and also went to Jersey Boys on Broadway - it's the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.
Saw John's older sister and husband one day and did lots of museum touring etc. Stayed in a condo in Brooklyn and rode subways lots. It was great!!!
Hugs to you all.

Good morning everyone.....i just did something i have never done before . lol ....
I just renewed our lic plates for the truck online....pretty neat , dont have to go up town to do it. our little town you never have to wait to get them it is just the time getting up town to do it. this way it was put in all the info and click a button and they will send us the decals to put on the lic ...modern technology huh?

well it got down to 35 last night but still no frost here ..may have been soem other places but not down here on the lake. seems the lake protects us some...i know in early spring when others have planted things and they get a frost we dont here. ....I have another planting of peas planted and they are coming up really pretty....going to have Joe to till up some of the garden in the next day or two and im planting some broc and some carrots....did you all know that you can leave the carrots in the ground and cover them with straw and when you want fresh carrots just go out and dig them...they will stay nice for most of the winter ,lol i read that in Mother Earth news sure didnt know that....neat huh?

oh man my neighbor just came over to see if they could use my cell phone for a little bit....their trucks brakes went out last night at the top of the hill and they went all the way down and into the lake with it. so their whole truck is summerged with everything she had in there. good grief some peoples luck , poor people...feel sorry for them but should have known they were bad shouldnt they? we knew ours were going bad and Joe bought them and put them on before we had a problem like that sort of funny but isnt either. ...i bet that was a wild ride down that twisty road but i do think i would have run off into the ditch before i let it go into the lake ...

well got to get my protein coffee made and get my clothes ready for work....stay warm love you

Just got home from a family wedding in Louisville, Ky. It was wonderful weather until an hour before the wedding and it started raining and got really cold. It was supposed to outside but wound up in a working barn. Even had a horse sticking his head out of his stall. It was just to cold to stay long under the tent after the meal so we missed the music and dancing. Of course DH doesn't dance anyway. It was nice to see family and visit with them.
I am worn out but did have a great time, there was a fantastic art fair downtown and we went Sat. morning. Most of it was way over my budget but nice to look at.

Looks like winter is on its way, my what a difference a few weeks makes.

Jo i keep thinking about downsizing at times but then wonder what in the world would i do about flowers....how would i keep busy, there isnt anything i like doing other than working in the flowers....
i guess i could go around to all my friends houses and do their flowers lol

i have a big slow cooker too but one thing that is great about it is that it has two inserts that you can cook in that are smaller...one of them is just the right size for me and Joe...but the big one is right for when some of the family comes....it is the best of two worlds..it also has a handle locks to be able to carry it all to church or somewhere without the lid coming off in transport....i think my daughter got it for me at wal mart about 8 years ago...it is still working great. ....

sorry about your eye but glad it is better now. our eye site is nothing to fool around with. i need very badly to get mine checked.....

Very chilly here and it was 68 in the house so I turned on the furnace.  I do love these cool, sunny days.

Last week was a hellish week at work.  My eye is doing fine and my sight in that eye is about 90%.  I'm so thankful to have my sight back.  I'm having headaches daily and I think it must be related to the eye problem.  I didn't have them before the infection.  A lot of aggravation at work and I just didn't want to be there.  I need to cut back which I can do any time but I don't like giving up that pay one day a week.

Next Saturday there's a open house for a retirement center so we're going to take a look.  All utilities are paid and the cottages are all on one level.  Our house is ranch style but there's a lot of upkeep.  Would be nice not to have to worry about maintenance.  Just hope they aren't too expensive.

I'm going to make a pot of vegetable soup.  I have a new cookbook, Eat What You Love, by Marlene Koch.  Great recipes.  They are all healthy and have the exchanges for diabetics, etc.  I have a chicken thawing to smoke.  Paula Deen had a Cranberry Jello salad on her show so I'm making that too but with sugar free Jello and Splenda.

I gave my big slow cooker away thinking I didn't need it, but I'm thinking of getting another one.  Instead of the 6 qt., I'm getting the smaller 4 qt.

Topic: Daily Bible Reading for the Weekend

Oct. 1st

The devotional today talks about focus, that’s something I really need to work on in my daily life.  I tend to get unfocused at the slightest interruption lately and it’s not good.  Staying focused has always been a struggle, guess that’s how in the past I would gain so much weight because I would lose focus of what I was trying to do.  Thank goodness God is a forgiving God but also He’s a helpful God and will do all He can to help us, we just have to ask.  My goal for the rest of this year is to focus on finishing what God has started.

Today’s Reading

Isaiah 62:6-65:25
Philippians 2:19-3:3
Psalm 73:1-28
Proverbs 24:13-14

Daily Devotional

"If God is for us, who can ever be against us? "
(Romans 8:31, NLT)

What are you focusing on today? Are you focusing on your difficult situation, or on God's promises? You may have all kinds of problems coming at you. Maybe you're feeling discouraged as new problems and challenges have popped up in your life. Don't let it get you down. Don't let it take your focus off of God. He is working on your behalf in the supernatural, even when you can't see it. Keep your trust and your focus on His promises, not on your problems.

It's important that you keep your heart in an attitude of faith. Believe that God is for you. Believe His plans for you have not changed despite new problems or troubling cir****tances. The more you focus on what God's doing, the more your faith will grow.

If it feels like you're facing impossible challenges, don't be afraid. God is on your side–nothing is impossible for Him. Stay focused on what God can do in your life. Remember, He's always in control. God knows the end from the beginning and He allows challenges in your life to cause you to trust Him more. As you put your faith in Him, you'll grow closer to God and you'll see your dreams come true!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

"Father in Heaven, thank You for being with me. I choose today to focus on You and not on my situation. And I refuse to allow the enemy's attacks to come against my dreams. I will continue to walk by faith, not by sight knowing You are with me every step of the way. In Jesus' Name. Amen"

Oct. 2nd

Seems like Paul and the writer of these devotions have been getting together because once again Philippians goes right along with the devotional.  Philippians 3:12-14 says 12Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. That goes right along with what the devotional says.  In the past and even now I have a tendency to look back at what I’ve done in the past and wonder how God can work in my life today, that is really letting my past rule me but if we think about it, we’ve already asked God to forgive us of past things so God really doesn’t remember that anymore.  I can see Him sitting there and wondering what we are talking about.  Like the devotional says, we need to look ahead and take that step forward to our dreams, once we take that first step God will be there to lead, guide and direct our path to make our dreams happen.  I Cor. 15:57 says “Thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ".  What a great scripture to confess each day.

Today’s Reading

Isaiah 66:1-24
Philippians 3:4-21
Psalm 74:1-23
Proverbs 24:15-16

Daily Devotional

"…despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us."
(Romans 8:37, NLT)

Many people struggle with letting go of past hurts and failures. They get caught up in how unfair their situation is. And the whole time, their dreams are lying dormant and unfulfilled. It's time to realize that in order for a new door to open, you must let old ones close behind you. Maybe you got off to a rough start in life. You may have had more than your share of setbacks. Let me encourage you. It's not how you start but how you finish that counts.

It may seem like your dreams have died, but God can bring them back to life. Your future is not determined by your past. But holding on to the past will keep you from moving forward. God has already given you the victory. He wants you to take hold of the dreams He's given you. He will see to it that they come to pass as you obey Him and give Him your whole heart.

You can go beyond where you are today. Your best days are not behind you, they are in front of you. Shake off past discouragements, and take a step toward your dreams. Choose today to stop looking back, and fix your eyes forward on the new beginning God has for you.

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

"Father in Heaven, today I choose to let go of the things of my past. I realize that despite cir****tances, I have the victory through Christ. I ask you to show me any dreams that are lying dormant, and bring them back to life in new ways. In Jesus' Name. Amen"

Today Oct 3rd

Today’s Reading

Jeremiah 1:1-2:30
Philippians 4:1-23
Psalm 75:1-10
Proverbs 24:17-20

Daily Devotional

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. "
(Hebrews 11:1, NKJVT)

Are you expecting your dreams to come true? It's important to look beyond present cir****tances and believe for God's best. Someone battling sickness may say, "I could never be healthy." Or, "This report from the doctor says too many things are wrong with me." What they don't realize is their lack of faith is holding them back from receiving God's best. They allow adversities to keep them from moving forward. And that's just what the enemy wants, to keep your dreams from taking root and being fulfilled.

Our God-given dreams are like seeds planted deep within our hearts. For those dreams to grow, they must take root. Having faith for your dream means you believe it on the inside before it takes place on the outside. In other words, you've got to see those dreams coming to pass no matter what's going on around you.

Get a vision on the inside of what God wants for you. He wants you to accomplish the plans He's put in your heart. Look out through eyes of faith and see your dreams coming to pass. See yourself walking in abundance in every area of life!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

"Heavenly Father, I know what you've put on the inside of me. By faith I see the dreams you've given me coming to pass, no matter what my cir****tances are. I am full of Your power and I'm ready to become everything you created me to be. In Jesus' Name. Amen"
