Im going down to see Michele on the 4th and i hope and pray that she is looking better than she did.
Yes it is hard to turn everything over to God especially control freaks like me...
Our trees here in the Ozarks mountains is really beautiful this year.
Oh how is Maxs pain since his surgery?

Tricare sent me to two different plastic surgeons and paid for the visit but refused to cover the surgery unless I was having another abdominal surgery at the same time. Believe me I tried hard to get approved. I wound up going to a resident program since I had to pay myself and can recommend KU in Kansas City ,Ks. I am about to check out Washington U in St Louis for another surgery since its closer. I say try to get approved you never know it could work but don't count on it. they will at least pay for you to consult with a plastic surgeon.

Thanks. That's good to know just in case Tricare won't pay for it.

Hello Missouri,
Jan, you are so good to be getting rid of things. I feel so trapped by possessions and am trying not to acquire anything else - except SHOES!!! And I'm going to sort through those and eliminate a few - I've done that already and need to do more.
Jo, you have my concern about your son. I watched my stepdaughter literally drink herself to death and it is an awful addiction. She would never admit that she was alcoholic and cirrhosis claimed her life about 5 years ago. I cannot even begin to understand what my dear husband went through in his heart with her. He is very self-contained but I know it had to be the most awful thing a parent could go through. On a more positive note, his older son has been sober for at least 5 years now, through AA and his Christianity. It is possible - God can do anything but the person has to be ready and cooperate with the Holy Spirit.
I am continuing to hold your son and Jan's daughter and boyfriend up in prayer.
Hugs to everyone - I love you all.

No drama this weekend and that was nice since the last 2 weekends were extremely stressful. As far as I know Greg has not drank since Oct. 15th. Max took him to his court appearance Friday. He will go to trial Dec. 15th. His story of what happened was quite different than the cop's story. The cop didn't mention Greg was taken to the hospital because he felt like he was having a seizure. He may be able to get his license back so he can drive to look for a job or drive to a job. He would have to put one of those things on his car where you breathe into it and if you've been drinking your car won't start.
He spent Thursday and Friday at our house and what a difference. His face wasn't puffy and he was so different. He and Max had a good time together. They both love most sports so there's a lot of talk there. Max asked him if he would consider AA now and he said yes. We'll see how that goes.
I am trying to turn my issues over to God and stop worrying about them, but that's so hard. Each morning I'm reading a scripture and positive reading from Joel Osteen. I'm working on renewing my faith.
Our weather has been great. What a beautiful fall. Some of the trees are just gorgeous.
Everyone have a great day!!

If you end up being self-pay you might want to investigate KU Medical Center Plastic Surgery Residency Practice. Dr. Dass up there did my tummy tuck and the total including surgery center and anesthesiologist was $4200. About 1/2 of every other quote I got. Good luck. Oh, the arms quote was about the same.

Hello Jessica,
I am so right in line with you on this same situation. I have officially reached my 2 year anniversary (today actually) since my RNY Gastric Bypass. I lost 150 lbs since then, but I too have regained about 20 or 30 lbs. I am beginning my search for surgeons now, but Tri Care referred me to a Surgeon in Jefferson City who told me that Tri Care would not cover my surgery. --- Supposedly I do not have enough excess to have it covered (in her words). I do know there is a surgeon that my Gastric surgeon (Dr. Hornbostel in Sedalia, MO) recognizes and I think he is out of Lake Ozarks medical. - Unfortunately, He is not currently listed under Tri Care. I am hoping to find out if there is some way to get him added to tri care and see if he can do the surgeries. If you find someone let me know, please.
It is always good to hear someone else in the area with similar experiences. I also know that there is a 'support group' started in Waynesville but I have been so busy lately that I have only been able to attend one of them.
Good Luck to you and keep up the good work!

Topic: RE: VSG thru BC BS of MO
I am glad you know you have coverage, generally that is the biggest hurdle. My office has had some success in getting BCBS to cover the Sleeve but like you said it is not consistently approved yet. You could call your insurance customer service rep and ask. They should be able to tell you one way or the other. Might levitate some of your worry.
My Surgeons have a self pay promotion for the Sleeve going on for $11,999.00. But I am not sure they would agree to a patient living so far away. They usually want you to live closer for at least the first year. But of course I can't speak for them. Hopefully you will be able to find something similar within your area.
As far as the money part goes there are several in my area that has used SurgicalLoans.com. I know nothing about it other than I see the paperwork go through my office. But might be something you would want to check out. Certainly would be a lot easier if your insurance covers it of course.
As far as the doctor's office handling the pre-auth and appeals... yes they do and if they don't find another bariatric practice fast. Cause that would be a big red flag. That is part of the administration cost included in the surgeon's fees. And no surgeon worth a darn is going to allow their patients to confirm who or where their payment is coming from.
Keep us updated with your progress and if we can help in anyway,
Connie

I have done this to myself more times than I care to admit. I was a real glutton for punishment. I finally had to tell myself the stomach discomfort and dumping was just not worth it anymore.
