Wanted to say congrats on your surgery.  I had pain until they took the drain tubes out and then it was like it just disappeared.  I could hardly walk from the pain in my back and knees but after losing 132 lbs it is just amazing. I still have some pain but I walk at least a mile everyday and can do so many things I couldn't with the weight on. This surgery is truly a blessing. Good luck on your journey, let us know how you are doing. Dr De la torre was my doctor also. They are wonderful over in Columbia.

Good evening OH,

It has been totally quiet on the phones today. Sat in the kitchen most of the day and played games on the laptop.

What a wonderful meeting last night, was so good to see all the newbies there. I know I'm only six months out, but kind of wish I could go back to the 3rd month maybe. That's when I was losing weight pretty fast, at least it seemed like it.

I agree that Tami you are an awesome person and love having you as our foundation.

I'm sorry I had to leave so early, two reasons, #1 my manager/dispatcher has been under the weather and I promised to take the phones back by 8, then I forgot my inhalers at home and needed to get a treatment. I would love to bring some treats that we can all eat, think I will start looking on the WLS sites for recipes.

Got really tired today just sitting here, so think I will post this and go to bed. Maybe after Church we'll have some jobs to do.

Everyone have a really great Sunday.

HUGS to All of you.

I am back home recovering after my RNY. I had lost 16lbs on the pre-op diet. Every thing went well and I only spent 2 days in the hospital but i am in so much pain now. How long till the burning from the staple lines lets up? I am walking as much as I can but still get dizzy and have a fear of falling. Before the surgery I walked with a cane and have poor balance from neuropothy and artheritis in my knees. I am prone to falling so the fear isn't related to the surgery but hightened because of it. My kids and grandkids are taking good care of me. I am blessed.
Just wanted to check in with update.

What a great meeting and what a great group. So excited for the three new surgeries and their progress and for the two that are "middle aged" in their journey. Then there are us "old folks" who are several years out. Everyone has much to share and talk about. Monique, the little girls were amazing. They are so cute and they were sooooooo good. Mine was never really bad but not that good.
Tami, you are such an awesome person. You keep us on track and we love you for helping keep the group organized and together. We're a rowdy mouthy bunch but we love you!
I am rededicating myself to be more disciplined in my eating habits in the new year. I have been given a wonderful tool to help me and I want to get 5 pounds off before Christmas and then I'll probably have to get the same 5 pounds off after Christmas.
Hugs to all.

"WLS is about making better choices, a healthier lifestyle and seeing how little you can eat.  Portion control is the key to all weight loss surgeries.  Bottom line - it isn't how much you can eat - it is how little you can eat."

Topic: Update and question

Just wanted to give a quick update of the pregnancy so far and I would like to gather opinions on B12.

I am 19 weeks pregnant now and everything seems to be going okay. I have an ultrasound on November 23rd and we will find out if everything is normal and whether it's a boy or a girl. My girls can't wait! I still don't look pregnant, but have gained 10 pounds, very depressing - at least it's going back into skin that is already there and not stretching to a new place, lol!

We did labs last week and my B12 was really low (normal being 211-900, mine was 149). I am having real issues taking the vitamins, all the extra calcium and iron that is required of pregnant gastric bypass patients, AND the B12 drops. Does anyone have an opinion on whether the B12 shots or B12 drops are better? I just need to remember to take the drops, but it seems to be a big problem with me.

Another great meeting last night in Springfield of the COF. support group...it is always so good to get to see all of you every month....Next months meeting is on the 10th so mark it on your calendar...sounds early but is probably due to Christmas ....anyway....some of you left early and we were thinking about next monts meeting... maybe everyone bring in somelittle snack,,,,something that we can have to eat that wont hurt us or is a treat we can have.
so good to see how all our new post ops are doing.  Some about 6 months out and some only a little over a week out. Sure wish i was back at the start and know what i know now...i probably would have done some things different to make me lose more....for one thing i would have exercised more. i might have lost more ...anyway i guess im happy where i am , my body seems to be anyway...it seems like it is at its set point. I think that is what they call it. I know this is about the weight i weighed for years and years and years when i was younger. never had to worry about my weight if i gained 5 pounds just cut out sweets and bread for a few days and did a little more exercise and it would go right back down. and that more or the less is how it is doing now.

its another cold foggy morning this morning....havent heard any gun ll shots yet so i guess all the deer are still ok....just 3 more days and it will be over.
Sure glad my brother in law got one for us to put in our freezer....only thing is that Joe cut and packaged it while i was at work and it is in way too big of bags for just the two of us. darn....now im not sure how to rectifi this. could i thaw it and repackage it real quick or what? want to make a pot of chili today that sounds so good and i bought a small meat grinder the other day at a garage ssle and want to try it out lol ...

Im still off today but work tomorrow and Monday.... will sort of be glad to go into work...Miss some of my little people .

well dont know much else to write about....need to go make some protein coffee and get woke up lol
feel like i need 3 or 4 cups to get woke up this morning.
love and hugs..

I am interested in this support group but just got out of the hospital yesterday (11/18). I had my surgery on 11/16 and am in quite a bit of pain still. when will the next meeting be? Is there a certain day of the month they meet?

Hi OH,

Was going to try and post early before going to Springfield, but had trouble with my laptop, wouldn't connect to the network and tried everything I could think of. After I came back home and balanced my checkbook, tried again, did all the system restore and troubleshooting and nothing, until I realized there is a key to turn off connectivity and evidentlly I accidently hit it by mistake. So nothing is wrong with the laptop, just the operator.

Won't start school til the 29th of November, still have some paperwork to sign and turn in at VO-Rehab on Monday, besides that if I had started this Monday would have 4 days of class, so would be better to wait another week. Of course that means it might be after the 1st of the year before I actually start driving. Right now am just taking one step at a time, cause I'm closer now to driving over the road again.

My manager/dispatcher is taking the phones for me tonight, so won't have to run off in the middle of the meeting.

Will see everyone that can be there.

Lots of HUGS
