It passed my neighborhood in South County ( St Louis) and hit about 2 miles north from me in Sunset Hills area.  I only had a bad storm pass through and did not see any damage on my block. Hope you  and yours are all safe. Maja

Hi, Jo & MO Peeps:

The boys and I just made Janet Corbin's Chicken Enchilada recipe and some home made guacamole.   We're all planning on staying home tonight.  After we eat we're going to watch the first two Chronicles of Narnia movies.  That's almost 5 hours of movie time so we'll probably pause for a few minutes to ring in the new year with our Sparking Wench's grape juice - white & red! Lil!  Tomorrow I hope to take down all our Christmas decorations.  Then Sunday after church we're all going to go see the new Chronicles of Narnia movie at the theaters.  It's been awhile since I've seen any of the Chronicles of Narnia movies so that's why I wanted to see the first and second one before we went to see the newest ones.  Helps to refresh my memory!

Does anyone have any New Year's Resolutions they'd like ti share with the Board?  I have enrolled in a course at CBC for Microsoft Office for the Spring Semester which starts in 2 weeks!  The last course I took was for LOTUS 123 back in like 1993!  I know just enough of Word to be able to do simple things and the same for Power Point.  However, I want to know more about both those programs.  I know NOTHING about EXCEL and that is something I think I would use a lot of!  So that's my first resolution of the New Year.  I'd like to at least get a "B" in that class.

Another resolution I have is to learn Kay Arthur's Precept Study method to study my bible.  I first the first time in my life, just finished reading the entire bible Thur this year!  I followed the thread Andy did...bought my own bible that was laid out that way.  I had never read the entire bible through before!  This year I'd like to read it again from start to finish and use the Precept study method.  I planning on buying an Inductive Study Bible to help with this as well.  Kay Arthur is having a workshop in Lee's Summit in March for 2 days.  I'm hoping a few ladies from our church will want to go with me.  I think I'd learn a lot and it would help with me to be able to study the bible better.

I'd also like to exercise at least 3 times a week.  I pay for a gym membership that is like 3 minutes from my house and I just don't use it.

Last my but least, I want to declutter my life!  DH has promised to help me next weekend to clean out our closet(s) and to organize them!

Jo - you like hummus?  Is there a particular flavor you like? I bought some a couple years ago and simply couldn't stand it.  I know it's really good for you.  I'd be willing to try it again if there was a flavor I liked.  Haven't been to Aldi's in awhile.  Need to check out the shrimp and Salmon there too.  It's hard to find wild salmon.  How do you cook your salmon?

Mama Jan - sounds like you're busy getting ready for your trip.  When do you and Joe leave?  Hope you're taking your laptop, would miss not "seeing" you smiling face!

Jeanie Rae - I love reading your posts!  It's exciting to see how the Lord is working in your life!  I know he has great things in store for you!  Daytona sounds great!  Although, the temp here yesterday got up to 67!  However, it's back into the 30's today and the rest of the weekend!

MO Peeps - I hope each and everyone of you have a Blessed New Year!  If you're out and about tonight, please be careful!

Love you all!

Anyone have big plans for tonight or tomorrow?  Max has a hockey tonight, but his knee is hurting a lot so he may not go.  I reserved 3 movies at Redbox.

This morning I went to Penney's to return some things and was surprised at the traffic and the number of people shopping.  I went to Target and could hardly get out of the parking lot.

We may go out to eat.  I have a coupon for a free meal at Ruby Tuesday's.  Went to Aldi's today and got some great deals.  They had hummus for $1.69 and it's as good or better than the brand I usually buy for over $4.  Bought some shrimp and wild salmon too.

Hope all of you have a safe and happy New Year's Eve!!

Welcome to the board.  Best wishes to you on your journey.  I'm 2 1/2 years out from RNY and have no regrets.

I'm in the Kansas City area.  Wish there were meeting here, but there aren't.  My surgeon has a monthly meeting, but it aimed at those just starting the journey.  Wish I could attend the meeting in Springfield that Jan attends.  It sounds like a great group, but it's a 3 hour drive for me.  I'm hoping to go down there one of these days.

Be sure to take your vitamins and get in your required protein.  I supplement my diet daily with protein supplements.  I can't eat enough protein to get in the minimum of 80 grams a day.  My dietician recommends 80-110 grams of protein daily.  You will probably see big changes in your food likes and dislikes.  The smell of fried foods is sickening to me.  I don't like anything battered or fried and I don't like eggs or turkey.  Sugar makes me sick which is a good thing.

Good luck and come here often to chat.

Hope you do great. not sure where there are some meetings in the Stl area your doctor should be able to tell you of several of them.
Good luck with your surgery....hope to hear from you more...

Jan, what a nice thing for you and Joe to do for your niece.  That's what Christmas is all about.

I know it's Thursday already, just spent most of yesterday on the city buses touring Daytona. Did a lot of walking, but at least I'm a little more familiar with the area. Will have to go to Walmart tomorrow and get refills for my meds, then I will spend New Years Eve, quietly by myself, will probably watch everything on TV. Thought I could handle a few days in the motel, but it's starting to wear on me, am getting bored, and since I'm limited on funds right now don't have a lot of options.

Actually went to a Sav-a-lot and got a few things so I don't have to eat at I-Hop or McD's.

Jan, reading what you and Joe did for your niece made me tear up, what an awesome blessing, helping a single mother with a baby is probably the top of the list. God Bless you.

Right now am missing my home town, but just because I have time to think. Am counting days until my trainer is back on the truck, really itching to be moving.

Jo~It's a shame that others aren't ready to give back, you are right, there should not have been any asumption that you would have to pay for your pizza. Family gatherings to me should be pot luck anyway, if they wanted a pizza party why do it at the Christmas Family Gathering.

Susie~Being in Daytona hasn't been all that until today, the last few days have been terribly cold for here, the high yesterday was like 52, good thing is it's warming back up for a few days. Be careful taking down the Christmas stuff.

Need to close this and get something figured out to keep me busy today. Love you all and can't wait til I get to a meeting.

HUGS AND MORE HUGS.
