Has This Happened to ANYONE ELSE??

Hi to all, I am so glad to see the MO board booming like this! It's great. My name is Mary, from St. Louis and I want to say hi and ask for some prayers. A year ago in November, I had lapband surgery. The surgeon was excellent and although there were a lot of problems filling the band properly, I had excellent support from my doc. Unfortunately, the LAP-BAND simply did not work for me. For many reasons, it was just a poor choice for me. At any rate, I am now considering having the lap-band removed and having RNY surgery 6 months later. (My doc requires 6 months for all healing to occur). I am just wondering if anyone has been through anything like this or would like to share comments etc. This has been a painful and disappointing experience for me and I don't want to set myself up for failure again. If you need to share privately, feel free to email me at [email protected]. Also, I do have a profile on here somewhere, which I haven't looked at or updated in a year. Thanks for listening, All blessings, Mary

I am sorry that your first surgery did not work for you. I had the RNY because I knew that the lap-band would not work for me. You may want to visit the revision forum. This forum is for people that have had to have revisions to previous WLS surgeries. VBG to RNY, lap band to RNY, etc. I wish you the best of luck! Lisa

Sorry the lap band did not work for you. I had the lap rny and it worked wonders for me and does for most people. The weight will fall off of you and you will get healthier and the rny is more of a permanent solution. Six months is not too long to wait. You do have the possibility for more compications with rny so do your research so you know what to look for and you will be fine. Good luck
