Hello everyone . I have been in the hospital the last eight days and I am lucky to still be here. I had a rough time . I had pains about 2am last Monday morning and called 911. They took me to Skaggs in Branson and I thought my crummy heart was acting up. The put me through all kinds of tests and said it was not my heart but that I had picked up some kind of bad bug and send me home with anti biotics. I got worse so went back to Skaggs Wednedsay and they ran more tests and decieded I had a bad gall bladder. They said I had to have surgery asap, but no one at Skaggs would do the surgery so they transferred me to St JOhns in Springfiled. They did emergency gall bladder surgery Thursday night , but my gall bladder had died insided me and was putting out lots of infection. I had two bad bacterias and they put me on Iv antibiotices. I finally was released yesterday. I still have to take antibiotices for a week. I feel pretty crummy but I am still alive. I was so sick Thursday I told God you know it is ok if you take me to heaven I am so tired of fighting to stay alive, but God still wants me here for some reason. Maybe I will feel better in another week. The docs and nurses were great but the dietary department a St JOhns is terrible. It was so hard to get something nutricious to eat. I fought with them constantly but they always won. I never got what I ordered and sometimes I could not eat the food at all. I could not make them understand that a bariatric patient does not eat much and needs high protien nutricious food. They gave me little protien and always pushed bread and potatoes. You had to fight to get fresh fruit and any whole grains at all. It was hard to get better without proper nutricion. When I am sick I can hardly eat anyway so I try to eat good foods. They always put half of my tray with white bread, potatoes, and dessert which I did not want. Some meals all I could get down was milk. Someone need to educate the dietcians on what our needs are. I never got my protien in at all any of the days. Hospital food is so bad it is a wonder anyone ever gets better. They pumped me full of enough antibiotics to heal an elephant I think. The good news is I lost five more pounds but I would rather lose that weight by exercising. Hope everone is ok. David Wilson, barely hanging in there by my fingernails.
