Medicare
I cannot get through to Dena in Dr. Hornbostels office. She is very busy. About an hour ago I got a call from the Rsvp office for disablity. The lady told me she word over my case and found out that I was diffently lost in the system..Since Jan. I was paying to much co payments. She found out that I have 2 insurances. The local pharmactist was charging me outrageous co payments not realizing that when they switched over to Medicare D from Medicaid that I was still to be left on medicaid also to pick up my co-Payments.. So does this mean .. If I have surgery that Medicaid will pick up the co-Payments? Does anyone know? just curious. Thanks Craig Lee
First off I know I am not from this board,..but I am from Missouri I just had a different surgery. I have been to Dr. Hornbostel and the seminars though. I am on Disablity Socail Security, and I also get supplemental SSI, which means I get Medicare and Medicaid,...as of Feb. 2006 those 2 paid for RNY and DS completely with out any out of pocket money. I had a Dr. Anthone in Omaha NE, do my surgery and they even took my Missouri Medicaid there. I have spent nothing but what it took me to get to Omaha,....and when I got sick and had to go back and spent 25 days in the hospital,...I still haven't spent a dime,..had the vomitting and runs that were going around in Feb. got back up there and they found I have cancer in my small bowl, going back May 3rd for cancer surgery which my same Dr. is going to do that too, he is an awesome Doctor, and I know I was very blessed to have been there, he just wasn't going to let me go home till he found out what was wrong with me. So if you want the surgery or should I say need the surgery, there is a way. I know my doctor will take arrangements for his services. I was insulin dependent before surgery, the reason I wanted the surgeries was to cure my diabeties which is why I went with the DS it has a 99% cure rate where the RNY only had 78%. See I was scheduled to have surgery with Dr. Hornbostel last Aug. and I found out about the DS and he doesn't do them so I went to Omaha,...best choice for me,....in more then 1 way.
I know I was sent there for more then the reason that I knew of and I am so glad that God loves me so I will be able to live the rest of my life cancer free, they caught it really early and I will not have to have any treatments after the surgery,..they are just going to take a portion of my large and small bowl out an it will be gone, just like my 66 lbs I have lost so far.
I hope this helps someone and I don't wanna make anyone mad, just wanted you to know what was happening with me.
God Bless and protect us all

PS I had posted this on your other message it is just a repeat, but I do believe it will answer all your questions. I also know that Dr. Hornbostel took both Medicare and Medicaid and didn't ask me for any co-pay or anything. So unless things have changed in the last few months you should have smooth sailing,....if I was you and they are asking for money I would be questioning what for?????
Craig please email Dena at denan@www.centralcom.net and ask her all these questions she will email you back. She did me about getting a psych eval done. and all. Just wanted to let you know she will answer your email. Jan

Hey Graig,
Yes, they do pay the other 20% as far as I know. I had Medicaid on spendown ($138 every month) when I got Medicare but I kept Medicaid so that when I do have this surgery, they will pay the other 20%. As far as other co-payments go, I was deemed for what they call "extra help" with my Medicare premiums and co-pays, I think Medicaid (or Family Services) does the "deeming" and picks up the tab. I pay a little bit more for prescriptions now but I still don't pay co-pays at my pcp.
