I put 330 10th street and my sign up sheet came back to me. SO i had to send it back out today....I doubt if I will be having surgery. I do not and I can not come up with 4000 co pay for the surgery since Medicare is paying ony 80percent. Iam having major issues with my D plan they got me messed up in the system so it doesnt look to promising. Craig Lee

Craig do you not have medicaid too? will they not cover some of the deductable that medicare doesnt pay. I thought that is what you said once anyway.Dont give up yet ....Do you know for sure that Dr. Hornbostel wants the co pay up front? They maybe will work with you about it. Never know until...... Craig, Check out what Jan suggested. Call your surgeon's office and find out the exact facts as far as co-pay and financial arrangements. I know the $$ end of things can feel overwhelming, discouraging and frustrating (all at one time!!!). With all the hurdles and bumps in the way you and Jan have had to overcome, it'll make it all the better when you are being wheeled in the OR!!! Unfortunately, rarely does this process go smoothly or easy. We are with you. Be persistent and keep moving forward with your goal of having surgery. You're in great company on this Board as we understand and have been there too. Please let us know what you find out! Cathy ObesityHelp Support Group Specialist

Craig. No, No, you can not give up that easy!!! Good suggestions above. You must check with Dr. Hornbostel about the co pay and even if he demands it up front. I am just now paying my balances and it was done in Nov. It takes about 3-4 months for medicaire to process. I know the good Lord has things in place for you. Colette

Ok first off I know I am not from this board,..but I am from Missouri I just had a different surgery. I have been to Dr. Hornbostel and the seminars though. I am on Disablity Socail Security, and I also get supplemental SSI, which means I get Medicare and Medicaid,...as of Feb. 2006 those 2 paid for RNY and DS completely with out any out of pocket money. I had a Dr. Anthone in Omaha NE, do my surgery and they even took my Missouri Medicaid there. I have spent nothing but what it took me to get to Omaha,....and when I got sick and had to go back and spent 25 days in the hospital,...I still haven't spent a dime,..had the vomitting and runs that were going around in Feb. got back up there and they found I have cancer in my small bowl, going back May 3rd for cancer surgery which my same Dr. is going to do that too, he is an awesome Doctor, and I know I was very blessed to have been there, he just wasn't going to let me go home till he found out what was wrong with me. So if you want the surgery or should I say need the surgery, there is a way. I know my doctor will take arrangements for his services. I was insulin dependent before surgery, the reason I wanted the surgeries was to cure my diabeties which is why I went with the DS it has a 99% cure rate where the RNY only had 78%. See I was scheduled to have surgery with Dr. Hornbostel last Aug. and I found out about the DS and he doesn't do them so I went to Omaha,...best choice for me,....in more then 1 way. I know I was sent there for more then the reason that I knew of and I am so glad that God loves me so I will be able to live the rest of my life cancer free, they caught it really early and I will not have to have any treatments after the surgery,..they are just going to take a portion of my large and small bowl out an it will be gone, just like my 66 lbs I have lost so far. I hope this helps someone and I don't wanna make anyone mad, just wanted you to know what was happening with me. God Bless and protect us all Marylin99

Thanks very much,...I have 2 weeks before my next surgery and I am a little worried, but I know I am going to be fine and that I am in Gods hands and he will protect me just like he has all along. I just get emotional every now and then and need a kind word and you gave me that today, you really don't know what that means to me. Anytime you have a major surgery it causes stress and emotional pressure, the good ole roller coaster. If the RNY is what your needing I am sure Dr. Hornbostel will be able to take good care of you. I live here in Sedalia, but I won't be able to go to next months seminar, I will be in Omaha, that is my surgery day. So think of me while your all there. Thanks again and God Bless Marylin99
