Another Question~Hope I don't drive everyone nuts but I am so anxious for this to happen
Anyway, I called insurance today to see if they could tell me anything. It is a big joke trying to get ahold of someone. Anyway, when I talked to a person and asked if my Dr. had sent medical necessity letter, she put me on hold, then came back and said they can't find the letter. I know they wouldn't have it right there but anyway, is there a chance the right department never received it. My Dr.'s office was closed by the time I got this info. Will be calling them tomorrow but what do you all think?
Thanks! I know I have alot of questions but I can't wait forever, I will be laid off in a few weeks to a month and want to get this done on my date that is set (May 11).
Thanks, again!
It is a big process to have wls and there are lots of question to ask and lots of information to obtain so don't worry about posting things to us. We've been there and understand!
Tomorrow morning, I'd call your physician's office. Find out when they sent it and confirm the address. Armed with the date and address, call your insurance and talk to a supervisor. Give them the facts regarding your letter and ask for confirmation of its receipt.....nicely but firm. If they have not received it, get a copy faxed to the supervisor's attention. Unfortunately, persistence pays off in this situation.
If you aren't already, make sure that whenever you make phone calls to the insurance company, doctors' offices, etc., make sure you note dates, times and the name of the person that you talk to.
Please post what you find out tomorrow as I'll be anxious to hear the outcome of what you are able to determine the status is.

I recommend spending this evening coming up with a list of very direct questions. When you know EXACTLY the questions to ask, you get better answers. I had to do this recently to find out about infertility benefits...the first person wasn't too helpful, so I tried again. Sometimes speaking to another person helps. Your insurance company, at the very least, should be able to tell you which part of the process your file is in. Good luck!
