Oh my gosh...my pcp wants me to quit smoking. I know I need to but I have never been able to quit for more than a day or two before but......I think I have it almost kicked this time. I have not had a cigarette since this last Thursday. I went to the dollar store and bought a big bag of red hots and every time I get the urge to smoke, I pop 2 or 3 red hots in my mouth. The only time I REALLY get the urge is when I am at my computer and right now it's KILLIN' me. Please God let me get through this!! LOL! I think I read somewhere that smokers heal slower than non-smokers or something like that. God willing, I will have this surgery within a year and I need to do everything on my part to get myself ready for it, and then let God do the rest. Have a great day everyone, Lia

Lia, Good for you, wanting to quit before surgery. Not smoking will help so much with the anesthesia. My father had many huge major surgeries and the anesthesiologists were always so excited that he didn't smoke, so even if there's no boost in healing, which I think there is, the anesthesia will work better if you're not a smoker. Bless your heart for trying and keep up the good work. It's hard but think of all the money you'll save and can spend on new clothes after surgery. YOO HOO.

Lia, congratulations on your decision to stop smoking. It WILL aid in your healing process and it is just plain healthier for you. We all want this surgery so we can live a healthier life and for you this is all a part of it. I know you can do it. Have faith, it will get easier. Wayne

Thanks guys, I think the worst part for me is that I feel like I need something in my mouth. My tongue is Going to be permanently red from these red hots. Thanks again, Lia
