i'm beginning the journey

I have been reading what all of you write and am so pleased to meet all of you. I am seeing my PCP on 4/28 to start on this journey. I have done lots of internet research and hope to have surgery with Dr. Hodges in Springfield. Has anyone had experience, good or bad, with him. I love what I hear about Hornbostel but Sedalia is far and I think my insurance would like me to go to St. John's. I don't have much support, my DH is wonderful but doesn't really want me to have the surgery. He has lost 55 pounds in the last year by just cutting down on portions but while he did that I gained another 20 pounds so obviously that doesn't work for me. I have so many co-morbidities that I'm hoping my insurance will see that this is a bargain for them. Once I am approved I know my sweetie will jump on the band wagon and support me. He just loves me and is scared for me. Don't want you to get a bad impression of him. He lost his first wife to cancer so is protective of me. Good night and pray for God's will in this journey. welcome to the forum. Glad you joined us. I am in the process of getting surgery soon I hope. I started with Dr. Hodges at St Johns but they are just now starting the process of getting certified and Sedalia had already started theirs and also have had thier walk thru by the state. You should see if your husband will come to the New Beginnings Support Group tonight at the St Johns Surgery Center on Seminole at the back of the Hospitals parking lot. Hi Lana, Dr. hodges seems like a great doctor. I have an aunt who lives in Nixa, so was looking into Dr. Hodges as a possible surgeon. I had decided to go with him because of everything I had read and my family would be able to sleep over at my aunts house while I was in the hospital. Good luck, Lia

Hi Lana, I had Dr. Hodges as my surgeon for RNY on Feb 2. He's wonderful. The entire office is helpful and does things fast! I've lost almost 50 lbs since the week before surgery when I started on the liquid diet and 34 lbs since the actual surgery. Not as fast as some, but definitely on track for me.
