Hi there My name is Jess and I found out last night that my dad may be dead. I haven't seen him since I was 3, he was not a good man. But I do need some closure. We found info on Michael Wenzel who died in Jackson MO on Sept 21,2005. He possibly died due to drugs. I am not sure if this is a small town or not. But does anyone in or around that area remember hearing about this man dying? We are waiting on the death record to arrive in the mail. Can someone tell me what the local newspaper in this city is so I can search any possible arcives?? Thanks for any help. Jess

After doing more searching, he could have possibly died in Jackson County, When I out the zip code it said, it comes up with Kansas City.

Jackson is a smaller town near Cape Girardeu (I'm not sure how to spell it) and also close to a small town called Fruitland. You can do an internet search on those towns, typing in the word "newspaper" to see what comes up. Hopefully, you'll be able to find something with archives. I did that when a sex offender moved in next door...after hours and hours, I FINALLY found information on him in his home state. Good luck! Pamela

I live close to Jackson, but I don't remember hearing about him... Here's the address for the local newspaper: www.semissourian.com You can look through obituaries for the past 2 years there.

Jess, Jackson County is around the Independece area and Raytown, Mo area. I worked home health in that area as a nurse. Colette

Jess, I don't have any info but it sounds like, as usual, the people on this Board are a great resource for you to research and find some information. I just wanted to write to you to lend my support during this time. I am sorry for this challenge that has come up for you. Whether you were close with your father or estranged, it is still a loss. The feeling of loss is still very real, and the finality of his death will be felt even though you haven't seen him since age 3. Please know that I care and understand, and if I can be of any support, let me know. My thoughts are with you. Please let us know what you find out. Cathy ObesityHelp Support Group Specialist

Jackson county is the kansas city area. You might try the kansas city star or the blue springs gazette or the independence examiner. Those are the primary newspapers. The Kansas City Star would be the best resource for that area. If I can help any more let me know. Jean E
