My name is Brenda Minks. I have been researhing WLS for about a year. I finally decided to find a surgeon and go for it. So last night my husband and I went to a seminar in Sedalia, Mo. given by Dr. Hornbostel. I was very pleased with Dr. Hornbostel giving the seminar himself and not nurses or someone else. We had to drive almost 6 hours because we live in Silva, Mo. which is about 120 miles south of St. Louis. I picked Dr. Hornbostel for one, he accepts Medicare and no one else seemed to be trying to get the title Center of Excellence as was he and Bothwell Hospital. Two, while searching on OH web site found a lot of excellent commits about Dr. Hornbostal. So I am going to fax my information to the doctors office and wait to hear from them concerning my first appointment with him. Will come back and talk about that after.

hey Brenda I was there too. I too really like him for some of the same reasons you said. I hope they get to be a COE quick because I want to get this done. Welcome to the board. Stay around. there are some good people here. Jan

Thank you for your welcome. I'm sorry I can't remember you from the meeting. I seem to have a one track mind, I was really concentrating on what the doctor was saying. I to wish for them to get the rating COE because I hope I don't have to wait to long. I know the longer I have to wait the more nervous I will get. How long have you been waiting for your surgery? Brenda, Welcome to the Missouri Board! Congratulations on being on the path to having weight loss surgery. I have heard excellent reviews on Dr. Hornbostel so it seems as though you are in good hands. Jan, here on our Board, has done lots of homework and would be a great resource (in addition to her waiting patiently for this to happen for her). The positive feedback from Jan is encouraging to me in addition to the excellent feedback I've obtained regarding Dr. Hornbostel. You might check on the surgeon portion of OH for feedback on him that has been posted. When I had my surgery, I checked out all of the surgeons I was considering and got great information that way too. Good luck and let us know how it is progressing for you! Good luck!! Hope you get the surgery soon.My date is set for May 11th if I get approved by insurance by then. I was going to use Dr. H. but his hospital doesn't take my insurance.
