I might need some advice. Last night I got sick from Okra. Only my stomach was hurting really bad before I finally threw up. Like cramping only it was in my actual pouch area. Tonight I ate a few bites of BBQ chicken. It's been two hours and I start cramping again and have thrown up twice. Is this common? I mean, my stomach isn't just nauseated, it's actually hurting bad. Then I throw up and the pain goes away for awhile. It's not hurting bad right now. Tracey

Sounds like dumping. Are you constipated too? Dehyrdrated? That can start a bad cycle....little sips of water or herbal (decaf) hot tea can help. Peppermint tea will actually settle your stomach. I have the book "Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies" and it suggests going back to liquids for a day or so....can't hurt, right. Hang in there - we're here for you.

I had my first dumping and it was totally not fun. It was last week, with Chinese food, barely made it out of the restuarant and I blessed their parking lot. I have decided I never want to dump again. It does hurt near the pouch. My doctor said it is just trial and error. I will stick with what I know will work LOL! Sorry you got sick, I feel for ya hun!

Remember you pouch is like a new born babies. Spicy food and hard to digest food will be difficult for a while. Okra is hard to digest and bbq chicken can be a little spicy if you had sauce on it. Early on things cooked in the crock pot that are very moist work real well. Things like chicken breast with mushroom soup, pot roast, pork chops cooked is sf applesauce. You will be better if you stay away form spicy things and things that are hard to digest. I love brocolli but it does not like me I still have problems with raw broccoli. You need to baby your pouch for a while. After you are a year out you can eat most anything but for now be a little conservative. Tuna, boiled eggs, cottage cheese, string cheese, and things like that work good at your stage and are easy on the pouch.

Sorry you got sick. BBQ can make you sick because of all the sugar in the sauce and yes when you get sick it relieves the pressure on the pouch for a little bit but it can come back with a vengence. Try to take it easy for a day and go back to what you were doing in the beginning. Hope you feel better. Wayne
