Wanted to wish you good luck with your approval process. I was approved within 2 weeks with UHC but, it took a few more days for me to get the actual letter in my hot little hands. You picked an AWESOME surgeon....he's great!! Take care, Kelli

Thanks, Kelli. I hope I am as fortunate as you were. I was told to wait a week then call almost every day to check the status. Apparently, when there is a snag or additional info is needed, their sense of urgency is a pressing as ours. Did you have to call or did you wait a patiently? I am excited about working with the great Doctor. The Institute has been very organized, professional, caring and calming as well. I will keep everyone updated.

Well, I wish I could say that I waited patiently but...I didn't. LOL I called UHC nearly everyday after the 1st week. Finally at around the 2 week point a lady told me I was approved and that the letter would be mailed the next day. I think 3-4 days later I received the letter and called Nancy at Dr. D's office. She wanted the insurance company to send her a letter as well so this took some time. Anyway, after I was approved everything with his office went SUPER fast. It was almost like a whirlwind for me. It was worth all of the traveling as I had a good 5-6 hour drive to St. Louis for the surgery and then post-op visits. I no longer go to St. Louis and do my follow ups with Dr. D. or Dr. Scott at their office in Columbia. This is much closer for me. However, I must say that if I had to do it all over again...I'd use the very same surgeon for my RNY. I've been very blessed and have had zero complications!! I'd have it done in Columbia but...he'd be the one and only I'd use. I hope everything goes smooth for you...and if you have any questions please let me know! -Kelli
