Please let me know your favorite protein supplements
A lot of the companies will send you free samples . Dont buy too much ahead becaue after surgery your taste buds will change a lot. If you like something now you may hate it after surgery. When I was an early post op I drank carb solution pre made and the powder mix and Atkins shakes . They both have good protien and I could get them down. I am not a big fan of protien shakes . I was only on them a short while, I feel better if I get my protien from real food. Some people use the Isopure clear liquid protien. It is expensive but a bottle had 40 grams of protien and you can sip on it a long time. I live the protien bars especially the south beach meal replacemnt bars and south beach cereal bars they are very tasty and good for you.
I tried a bunch of proteins before surgery and liked some of them. After surgery, I couldn't take any of the powdered strawberry, vanilla or chocolate and I couldn't stand the smell of them. My taste buds and my smeller changed post surgery. But I found I really like GNC liquid protein (comes in punch flavor only). I put it in Crystal Light Ipink lemonade flavor). I actually don't mind the taste and there is no different smell to it. 3 T equals 18 grams of protein. You can double it for 36 grams. And you can get it at your local GNC store. I think you can order it on line if you dont' have GNC somewhere close.
the only protein supplement i seem to tolerate is ZERO CARB ISOPURE
You can get at GNC stores or you can buy it for half the price online.
I mix 1/2 banana -1scoop of protein-ice- water-generic crystle lyte orange early sunrise drink mix(I use the little indiviual packets they sell at walmart to mix with a bottle of water just because it is convenient)the brand name is Great Value. Ilove this stuff The problem I have with other protein drinks is they are usually too rich for me. Or they have an after taste .I mix my shakes in the blender mainly to crush the ice. but the protein mix mixes up with out blending very well. Jean E
Personally, I found most protein supplements to be absolutely disgusting, especially the powder ones that you must mix up. I did find one, and ONLY ONE supplement I liked. It is the EAS Advantage chocolate. You can find it at Wal-Mart ($5.86 for 4) and at Sam's Club ($26.86 for 24). It is 100 calories with 15 grams of protein (or was that 20 g?). This brand also makes various berry flavors, but those aren't very good.
Good luck finding one you like! It's not an easy thing to do.

I found one on line that is a soy product. called Revival. It is a powder but I bought the van. flavored and mix s/f jello or liquid flavors with it if I want a change. Also I mix frozen fruit with it but I dont think you could do that right after surgery. I am using it now before surgery to lose some weight .Jan
Goodness.... everyone had great responses... these are my favorites...
Unjury unflavored , chocolate and vanilla....
I mix them in with Jello SF instant pudding.... you CANNOT taste it nor tell that there is a texture change (a big issue for me!)...
Dutch Chocolate Low Carb Isopure powder... OMG.. this mixes up so incredibly well and it packs 25 grams of protein per scoop. I can even drink it with water! Tastes like swiss miss chocolate drink. Mike mixes it with 2% milk...(tastes even better!)...
I have also used Isopures ready mixed liquid (grape frost) .... chilled really well it tastes like Grape Koolaid.... and the bottle has 40 grams of protein.... you could lightly freeze it and make a slushy type drink... very good!...
I also have used Profect *they are advertised on this website*... very good ...good pow of protein in a small size (only 3 oz.) but it is pretty darn expensive. Good to take on trips where convenience is a must!
Hope that this helps!
