Does anyone know how much he charges up front, no insurance?

Hi Carrie~ Dr. de la Torre did my lap band surgery on 12/08/04 and I am a self-pay. The cost was $5000. to his office (GLVS) and $17000. to DePaul Hospital. I understand that it is the same cost for RNY. The fills for the band are around $350. each. I have had some problems with my stomach prolapsing so I am completely unfilled now. We do not know why I have had problems since I have not had alot of vomiting or drink carbonated beverages or overfill my pouch with food. I was just told some people are more prone to this. Do not want to discourage you because I loved my band when it was working properly. But it is something to consider when you are self-pay. If you are RNY, you should not have the prolapse problem. At any rate, good luck with what ever you decide.
