iron supplement
I have become anemic since my hernia repair/panniculectomy. Dr. Hodges has recomended an OTC iron tablet called Vitron-C 2 times a day. It is Ferrous Fumerate Iron 66 mg Elemental Iron 60 mg tabs. The are available from Vitalady.com.
My concern is that it is a coated tablet. Usually I steer clear from anything coated. I just don't absorb them well. Dr. Hodges says they are made especially for bariatric patients. Does anyone have any information on these or a simular product that might work? Jean E
Jean,
I am not familiar with them myself. I'm sure if Dr. Hodges recommended them that he would definitely know about their absorption for RNYers.
I take Bariatric Advantage vitamins and have for years and years. They are specially formulated for bariatric patients. They have an iron supplement. I have worked with many patients that have used their vitamins, including the iron supplements, and had great results. You might check them out along with other brands. My personal experience though has been excellent with B.A. vitamins. Their website is www.bariatricadvantage.com.
Let me know what you find out and what you decide to take.
