Was tentatively scheduled for surgery but the new ruling by Medicare that surgery can only be done in Centers Of Excellence my date was cancelled and my surgeon will no longer accept Medicare patients. If anyone knows of a Doctor that will still take Medicare patients please let me know. I've had all the test required. I have attend all the support group meetings that were offered through the Bariatric Program I was going through.

Barbara, Check the American Society for Bariatric Surgery website which is: www.asbs.org. I know there are many programs that are currently going through the process to become a Center of Excellence. As time passes, there will fortunately be more and more physicians and centers for patients to select from. I know the Program in Springfield, Missouri, at St. John's Hospital which has Dr. Edwards and Dr. Hodges, is going through the process currently to become a Center of Excellence. Let us know what you are able to find out. Cathy ObesityHelp Support Group Specialist

Dr. Hornbostel in Sedalia takes Medicare and the hospital he operates out of had started the process to become a center of Excellence a couple of months before the ruling came down so that may be a first one here in Missouri. The only other one I have found is in Dallas Tex. With a Dr. Rodrequiz (sp) Go to the Texas Board and look under Baritric Surgeons. I have been looking into this ever since they came up with this last lame ruling. Jan
