Feel like a new gal already...

Got my drain and staples out yesterday and boy did that drain being gone help me sleep. I realized that that was what was the most uncomfortable. I am still having trouble eating and gettin in my Protein shakes the powder I bought was disgusting and so I bought the Slim Fast High Protein which is ok. I am so sick of broth it is not funny. My Mom says I am obsessed with food now because I can't wait to have what I can eat at the next stage. I told her to try broth for over a month and see how she appreciated being able to chew her food. I was on liquid protein the three weeks before surgery so I am pretty ready for the next stage. I have lost 15 pounds since my surgery which was on the 1st. And 22 total since going on liquids a month ago. It is already easier to walk. Eating is a little confusing because I have to make myself go slow, it always feels like I have a huge air bubble that is blocking my food from going down but it never comes all the way up. I feel like I have to burp all the time but they never come out. It is getting annoying. I am looking forward to next Wednesday when I can start soft solids, maybe that will help the burps? To everyone who has had surgery thanks for making room for me on the losing side and for those waiting for surgery, I will keep your spot warm and hope you can join us soon!

Glad you are doing ok. There is a lot of room here on the losing side all of us have gotten so skinny now. It is better when you can have real food and it satisfies you more too. Try cottage cheese and refried beans with cheese or even just string cheese it takes like a T bone steak. Peanut butter is good too. Eat these if they are on your approved list from your doc. You will be a skinny minnie pretty soon too.

Hey Angela, glad to hear you are doing well. I no what you mean about the drain, it is an annoying little thing. Follow your Docs program and before you know it you will be eating solid food and feeling even better. Keep up the great work. Wayne

Angela, You had an awesome surgeon!! I remember when I had my drain pulled out...and I was worried for days beforehand that I had pulled it out a little too far at night...and then we I saw how long it was... I didn't worry anymore. LOL I can also recall waiting and dreaming of being at the next food stages...I remember when Dr. D. let me have soft food...we stopped at KFC and my husband got this big huge meal and I had this little container of mashed potatoes...and nothing to drink...this guy kept staring at us...and I'm sure it did look weird that my husband had all this food and this big huge drink...and all I had was my little bowl. Still, today when we go out to eat...I always try to eat SLOW but...I'm always the 1st one finished with my meal. There will be a lot of changes for you over the next few months...and things will change quite rapidly for you or at least it did for me. Over time the burping feeling will get better! Don't forget that you can always stay in contact with Nancy through email. She was a lifesaver for me and she always reponded quickly to my VERY CRAZY SILLY QUESTIONS! If you have food stage questions...she's your gal...trust me she'll steer you in the right direction for your pouch. Take care, -Kelli
