Two weeks post op
Hello all,
Today I am officially two weeks post op and started my pureed diet.
I've lost 13.5 lbs since surgery (nothing the first four days!) and 13lbs the week or so before, so I have officially lost 26.5 lbs in three weeks. I am BLOWN AWAY. I had this dread that this wouldn't work for me.
I've had no trouble wiht campbell's split pea soup, or with cottage cheese and canned shrimp. Tomorrow I'm making a fish chowder (using Talapia)from my mom's recipe and will puree that.
I'm still fighting fatigue, but I know that's natural. My side is hurting less and less and I could finally sleep on my side and side/stomach last night. Needless to say, I got much needed rest all at once in stead of in snatches.
I've been slowly adding exercise. Today I'm up to 20 minutes on the treadmill at a very slow 2.2 MPH on an incline. I feel great while I'm walking. Rusty bought me some sugar free jello pudding today and I ate some with a scoop of protein powder mixed with it. Tasted like chocolate cake mix you lick off the beaters.
Wounds seem to be healing well, no fever, no excessive gas, no nausea.
I'm praying all stays well even after I start on regular foods. I'm scared about that.
Anyway, just wanted to update everyone.
I have been reading the board every day.
How are all the recent losers doing? I miss hearing about progress from those who had surgery in November, Dec, January.
Wayne, hope the food situation is improving.
Melissa, how's the liquid diet?
Magee, you healing up?
Hope all is well with everyone!!
Tracey
Congrats on your weight loss and how well you are doing. A positive attitude is the key and you are so posititve. Wow, good job on your exercise I didn't start doing that until I was about 6 weeks out just because I was lazy. Then I realized that exercise is a big part keeping the weight off in the long run and how important it is. Have a great day today and God bless, Penni
Tracey - your words ring true except I am envious you are tolerating food better than I - everything seems to make me feel yucky. I am sore and waiting for that sleep-on-your-side breakthrough. You are paving the way for me....especially that treadmill stuff - that's AWESOME.
I am going to pull my sore, fat body around the walk track at the Arnold rec center - (it's free) and it's my first time out driving.
Keep up the good work Tracey -
Magee,
Take it easy. Remember I'm a week farther out than you. And that week made a HUGE difference in my feelings of wellness. Plus I was only on liquids until yesterday. You'll do great. One week out I wouldn't have driven or even attempted to exercise. I couldn't even get up out of my chair without help from my husband. Last night was my first unassisted shower.
I think you're doing fabulously!
Tracey
Hey Tracey - this is your post but I am the one feeling better. Thanks for letting me know I am doing okay. I really always feel behind - it's a side effect of being the fat girl. I did walk a half a mile at a nice, indoor track. They said you should be able to walk 2 miles 6 weeks out from surgery. That's funny cause I couldn't walk it BEFORE surgery.
I gotta be honest with ya dear----cottage cheese with shrimp or FISH chowder .....okay, now that's out of system.
AIR seems a bit risky and I am working on protein shakes with herbal tea. Please share often.....we want to hear about the pounds coming off......
hugs to you, tracey (even if you are a post-operative-fish-eater )
