Hernia surgery and update
I have a very large abdominal hernia. I couldn't decide whether or not to get it fixed. But it seems that it realy needs to be. My bust and waist are the same size due to the hernia. So, my surgery date is March 28. Dr. Ramshaw at Univ. Hospital is going to do it. He is now, also, doing gastric bypass. He told me that they are going to begin doing revisions, as well, in a few months. He says they are also adding a psychologist to their staff to do counseling with gastric bypass patients. Since I had my gastric bypass by Dr. Fabito in SL and he is now retired, I told him I am looking for some help like counseling in regard to the surgery. I am 18 months out and even though I have lost 148 lbs, I still feel like the same person. It's not a bad feeling, I mean I am the same person essentially. I just don't quite know how to embrace the new me. Sorry, I'm rambling.
Say a prayer for me during my hernia surgery. It is a very large hernia and since I have had four abdominal surgeries (2 c-sections, a prior hernia repair and the gastric bypass) he is saying I may have lots of adhesions that they will have to disconnect from my abdominal wall. This is the dangerous part of hernia surgery I suppose. But, Dr. Ramshaw sees very knowledgeable about hernia surgeries. And, I like the fact that he is knowledgeable about the gastric bypass, too.
One thing he said was my hernia may be from the area where the y-intersection was made. He says this is a common area for hernias. Anyone else heard anything about that?

Hang in there sounds like you are in good hands. You, know we are very blessed these days to even find thoughs things and correct them. Just think if we lived back in the old times we might not be able to get them taken care of and more than likely we would die. So, pray that everything goes alright. Have a great day and God bless, Penni
