Drain free
Well, anyone out there who's been reading my posts knows I have been sore, sore, sore. But now I am drain free. Yippee. Also, since my surgery 6 days ago, I am down 12 and a half pounds - my first official loss from WLS. I'm on the losing side, I'm on the losing side...
thanks to everyone for your kind replies and messages. I didn't feel good yesterday so I wasn't answering much....Anyone got some excellent puree recipes?? Looks like the next 4 weeks, I'll be puree-city.....
I had my surgery the day before you, on the 7th and I get my drain out tomorrow. I can't wait. I'm very sore too and just feel generally crummy. Do you feel like that? I did have a reaction to the morphine they gave me after surgery and had to stay an extra day in the hospital. I don't if that could be why I feel so yucky. Congrats on the 12 and 1/2 lbs- that's wonderful!

If you can tolerate soup that is real good early on. Stay away from tomato as it has lots of sugar but any broth based soup is good or puree bean of split pea soup. They are filling and have protien and are good for you. Cottage cheese is a good early food too very easy on the pouch. If you can puree tuna salad it is good too. My doc said anything you can put in a blender works. Refried beans are good too as long as they are not greasy.
I'm so happy to hear that you are rid of that pesky drain. I was incredibly lucky and did not have to have one of them... but I can vouch for the soreness factor right after surgery.
You don't want to move but you HAVE to move... and YIKES it hurts... but you are doing so well and have such a positive outlook.
You are doing to do just fine!...
There are bunches and bunches of ways that you can fix foods for that puree stage... David gave you lots of suggestions. One that I really liked was making a good chicken homemade soup/stew base and then pureeing that... talk about good!...mmmmmmmm
Best of wishes honey...glad to see you are on the mend!
