hey, I need an opinion. I am on full liquid and they say cooked cereal is considered full liquid (not puree). They gave me cream of wheat in the hospital and the books also say Cream of Rice is okay. Any southerners out there know the ruling on grits? Thanks Angel "boy am I sore in spots" Magee

Magee, BEWARE! Rice made me very ill when I was 1st post-op...around 6 weeks out. It swells in your pouch...or so my surgeon explained to me. If you do try it...please eat very little and see how your pouch does. I thought I was going to die...and ALMOST went to the ER. Still at 1.5 yrs post-op eating rice isn't the same. I can eat a little bit of it...it's very filling. But, with that beng said...everybody is different and, some people might do just fine with it. Just introduce things a little at a time. Hope this helps and welcome to the losers bench!! Kelli

Grits are probably ok but you need to make them real runny go they pass through your pouch. Dont make them thick at all. My doc said we could have cream of wheat or rice or grits just real runny.

Thanks guys. I am going through this cautiously and gingerly. No more grits for me for awhile (no matter how runny)....I am having good results with SF pudding, organic broth and herbal tea.....now if I could just stand up without wincing....... I am happy to be on the losing side, thanks guys for the support.
