Is there a Lap Band doctor near Springfield yet?

Hi everyone. I had Lap Band surgery last June in Kansas City with Dr. Stephen Malley and have been finishing up my college degree since (living about 1 1/2 hrs. from . I will be moving back in with my parents (Lake of the Ozarks) for student teaching in a week and a half and I'm a little concerned that I will be farther away from my doctor. I have been at a good spot (fill wise) since October and haven't needed to see Dr. Malley since. I was wondering if there's anyone in the Springfield area who does Lap Band yet and what you guys could tell me about them if there is. I know the Springfield area well but I would also consider doctors in Jeff City or Columbia. Thanks! Christina 215/270/145

Dear Christina, Dr. Hornbostel in Sedalia does lap band. Carol

St johns hospital in Springfield is starting lap band this month. I think doc Hodges does it. I am not their patient but I go to support group meetings in Springfield. You could look up their pages on this site to find out more info. The support group meets at 5 30 pm the second Monday of the month at St JOhns outpatient surgery building.

Christina, Dr. Chris Edwards and Dr. Cameron Hodges at St. John's perform the Lap Band. They have developed the Weight Loss Surgery Program to perform both the RNY and Lap Bands. If you need additional information, please let me know. Cathy

Thanks! I heard (sometime last year) that one of them (can't remember which one) was wanting to start doing it the end of last year so it's great to know that someone down there is finally doing it! I don't know where I'll end up once I finish my student teaching but it's good to know that there's someone there in the mean time. Thanks again, Christina
