My pre-op testing was today, I need an ear

They told me to loose about 20 pounds to get my bmi down below 60 so I could be sure of laproscopic surgery....I weighed in at down 18 pounds. Yippee. Now if I just lop off a finger before next Wednesday - I'll make the 20....just kidding. It's fine. My bmi was 58. My blood pressure was up a tad so they did an ekg on the spot - turned out okay. The woman even got blood on the first try - I am a notoriously hard stick. So, next Wednesday is it. Now I need to solve getting out of the house with my husband at 5 am and having the kids get on the bus at 7am. I am calling my friends for a sucker, oops, volunteer for that early in the morning. Lastly, my mom is insisting on being present at the hospital. She is the last person on the planet that I want anywhere near me during that time.....you'd hafta know her but suffice to say, she's pushy, loud, bossy, tells everyone she meets every personal detail about her family (like me) and legally blind, incontinent and can't walk without assistance. Even with all that, she really terrorizes my dad and stresses people out who are around her (I once heard someone use the term TOXIC). Now, I am not just making this up....I really don't want my husband burdened with her when he needs to be un-stressed and able to relax. Sorry for unloading that but it's a big problem. So I've got one more hurdler before Feb 8th and it's figuring out how to keep her at home (it's all about HER right?). Good luck on your big day. You might want to order some free samples. You might try the fruit flavors as the dairy one make some people dump. Add fruit or flavorings to them to pep them up. When I was an early post op I used the Carb solutions pre made shakes. They tasted ok to me and I could get them down. Dont know what to tell you about your Mom. The only one at my surgery was my wife and that was fine as I was so gassy. YOu may tell your MOm you will be passing a lot of wind since they are going to put CO2 into you to do surgery. The post op gas is pretty bad. Maybe that will scare her off.
