Okay, once again I am looking to you all for information and help. As some of you know I was put on a all liquid diet while waiting for my insurance approval. I am drinking my protein shakes, water, sugarfree koolaid, sf jello, sf popsicles, coffee or tea, and broth. I am wondering if there is anything else out there that I am missing?? Maybe something you all had while on your liquid diets?? I miss chewing so much and I know alot of it is in my head. Because I am really not hungry. I am just bored and tired of the same ol same ol. I read on one of the boards that someone got the egg drop soup. And strained off everything but the broth and thats what they drank. Would this be possible for the hot & sour soup also?? Please help me I am trying really hard to stick with this and not give up or in. And I know there are several of you out there that has had to do the liquid diet thing. So any information would be greatly appricated!!! I was even thinking about the roman noodles in a cup and just drinking the juice?? Am I wrong and need to just stay with broth or what?? I sure dont want to gain any weight back that I lost. Thanks for the help and please pray for the strenght to stick with this diet!!! you all!!!!!! Hi...I have a few suggestions that may help you out. I did create some liquid recipes for a friend of mine who was on liquids for 4 weeks total. Poor dear. Ugh. Anyway, you can read those here: www.bariatricbytes.com/liquids.html Also other things you may try are sugar-free life savers and sugar-free jolly ranchers. The clear sugar-free candies 'count' under liquids to many docs and allow you to crunch. Of course whether your doc allows them would be a guess...you could ask Jello jigglers - more dense, filling and chewable than regularly made jello. Other ideas from my website are: Clear Liquids Clear liquids are typically any liquid that when at room temperature you can hold it up to the light and 'see' the light through it. These include the following (though not all may be acceptable to your surgeon): Broth or strained soup Jell-O or Gelatin Jell-O Jigglers (recipe on box) Jell-O Water Diet Drinks: Crystal Light, Propel, Diet Soda/Pop, White Grape Juice, Diet Apple Juice, Tea, Coffee, etc. In-Between Liquids Some people are allowed protein shakes and yogurt drinks on 'clear' liquids. For those folks, I developed some Liquids With Texture recipes. that you might enjoy Full Liquids Full Liquids are thin liquids that you can drink. There is a lot of ambiguity in the medical field as to what constitutes a full liquid from a puree from a soft food. Full liquids are typically things that are in liquid form without the need to be blenderized and are not necessarily see-through. These include the following (though not all may be acceptable to your surgeon): Carnation Instant Breakfast Carnation Instant Breakfast Kickers Thin Cream of Wheat (VERY runny) Thin Malt-O-Meal (VERY runny) Sugar-free pudding with twice the milk so it is soupy NSA Ice Cream Carb Countdown or other milk replacements NSA/Diet Hot Cocoa Yogurt Smoothies/Drinks Applesauce thinned down with Diet Apple Juice Runny Mashed Potatoes, mixed with double the fluid Some doctors permit saltine crackers on full liquids, but DO ask your doctor before eating these. HTH and good luck, Toots

Hey Melissa, You couldent have got advice from a more knowledgable person than Toot. Having said this I believe the strained soups would be fine and I liked her idea about the hard SF candies for the crunch. I know what your going through with the texture problem, everything I've eaten since surgery has been pureed and I am getting sick of it One thing I do for the crunch is I will actually chew something that looks good but instead of swallowing I spit it out, kinda gross but it helps. Good luck and email me if I can help. Wayne

Wayne Thank you so much sweetie for your help and support. And no trust me that chewing and spitting out doesnt sound gross. My problem would be my mouth would over ride in brain and I would be swallowing. lol But with Toot I did get some more idea on what to have. Thanks Melissa

Hi Melissa, I also had to do 2 weeks of liquids with Dr. Scott before surgery! They told me I could even have Liptons chicken noodle soup, of course not the noodles. I know how tough those liquid diets are. Hang in there girl you will make it. One other thing. I would strongly suggest calling the insurance company every 3 days. That really helped move things along for me. Marla 335/274/138

Marla Thanks sweetie. I had some hot and sour soup last night and that really seemed to help me. I think maybe it was cause it wasnt the same ol stuff I have been drinking. Who knows or maybe I am just getting use to alll the liquids. lol I am on day 4 and just taken it one day at a time. Thanks for the help and support. Love ya Melissa

Melissa, I really admire that you are doing this....you willingly went on liquids and are keeping it up...I am dying just getting my bmi down to qualify for laproscopic surgery. I recently added exercise to the 3 slimfast shakes and 1 small meal plan - I think it's making my scale GO UP! Melissa, I've read your posts, you are strong, dedicated and will succeed. Those sweet drinks and the salty soups are all the tools to bring your dreams.....We are going to do this together and we are going to have surgery and stay on liquids and become the skinny butts we want...If I can stay on liquids ANYONE can...I am the wimp of the world.

Magee Thank you for the words of encourgment. I was talking on the phone to my g-friend today. And she asked me how it was going. I told her I am hanging with it and it is getting better day by day. Of course that all I take is it "one day at a time". And she was like "you poor dear I feel so sorry for you". "I could never do something like that ever." See, I dont believe that true about any of us. I believe once we have reach our point to where we say ENOUGH we all can and will succeed at what ever we set our minds too. I know I have said many of times I am going to lose this weigh and I mean it. Only to get discourged or disappointed and think what is the use. But once I reached my point were I had, had enough that was it. I am going to do this and my faith in the Lord is what help me keep going. Plus my dream of children. So yes, I agree with you WE WILL MAKE IT!!!! And we will be cheering on everyone else that come in behind us on the losers bench!!! Thanks & God Bless Melissa
