Thursday's thoughts...

Well here I sit... should be on my way to work by now but I'm waiting for the drs. office to open so I can take our 17 yr. old son in. He woke up this morning with the entire right side of his face swollen,red and hot. From his eye down to his jaw. Can't figure out if it is a sinus infection run amok or an abcess in his upper right jaw. He said the pain started right under his eye but when I look in his mouth at his teeth (right eye tooth) there IS a tiny tiny white dot on the gum right up against the cheek on the inside of his mouth. Can't figure this one out. He goes to the dentist regularly so I don't know of any problems with a tooth that could cause an abcess?? But we have to be vigilant with him as he has a VP shunt placed due to congenital hydrocephaly. ANY infections or illnesses involving the head area HAVE to be treated immediately due the shunt placement. It could easily "travel" via the shunt and have a straight shot to his brain. *shudder*... So here I sit waiting for the drs. office to open and then I will be Johnny at the spot waiting. Poor baby, he feels awful ... If any of you are so inclined please send some prayers our way... my situation at work is NOT conducive to be understanding towards me being gone from work. I.E. I'm not on the "in" crowd at work where it is ok to take time off for things like this ... I have to go through an inquisition and be made to feel badly when things like this happen. Oh well, my family comes first! Other than that things are peachy here!... Finished my yogurt with ground flaxseed this morning.. it is SO filling and it tastes so good! You guys should really try it. For those that have "regularity" problems it will dramatically help (I don't but I'm telling you that I surely WON'T now either!) and it is really full of alot of benefits. PLUS IT ISN'T EXPENSIVE!.. I get my fresh (it has to be refrigerated) flaxseed at the local health food store and it is like 1.90 a lb. Not expensive at all. I bought a coffee grinder at Wally world and I pulverize mine like a find powder. I dip a spoon into the yogurt and then dip THAT into the flax. YUMMY and it tastes like nuts!... mmmmmmm good! Everyone have a grand day... I will try to let you know what I find out regarding our son... I'm a bit worried... but that is just the mom in me! E~

Elizabeth, good morning. I will definatly be praying for your son. I hope it is nothing serious. I also hope your job doesn't give you a load of crap over taking your son to the Dr. Your right though, family does come first. I am going to try the Flaxseed as soon as I get paid. BACK from the dr. (thank goodness they got him in quick) Poor baby has a MASSIVE sinus infection that has infiltrated into his cheek area. I had already given him some Amoxicllin I had at the house. Dr. gave him a shot of Rocephron which is a heavy duty antibiotic PLUS Augmentin (stronger than Amoxicillin) . Even though I already gave him the Amoxi I still have to give him the other meds. She said he was that sick.... Running a temp as well.... have to bring him back in tomorrow if the swelling is not all gone... so we are crossing fingers and saying prayers.... heading to work now...
